  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Pretty sure the DA is speaking of legal means to bring justice and accountability to ICE.

They may think for now they’re safe hiding behind their masks and working as a gang to protect each other but people are documenting every abuse and law being broken and right violated in the pursuit of this administration’s immigration agenda and all of them from individual officers will be brought to justice eventually.

I don't think it goes without saying that ICE is hiring a bunch of people who reflect the admin doing the hiring, the unqualified where background checks are just a road bump to be just ran over.

Obviously, the ignorant DA of Philadelphia doesn't agree with the federal supremacy clause of the US Constitution.

Federal supremacy doesn’t mean agents can do whatever they want and are not subject to state laws while performing their duties. This is why it’s crucial that their interactions with the public be recorded and documented because they’ve now been caught multiple times flat out lying about what their officers are doing.

Incorrect. They are not lying about what our federal law enforcement officers are doing.

No there’s plenty of video of just what they are doing. They’ll have nothing to worry about if they aren’t breaking any laws or violating anyone’s rights but you seem to want them to be held above the law. You appear to believe federal agencies can do no wrong and nothing bad has happened to anyone on the part of ICE/CBP in the thousands upon thousands of interactions they’ve had over the past year.

That’s just silly. No human run organization is perfect and even Trump said they’re going to make mistakes. This is about accountability.

It's for the FBI to investigate federal crimes. To think otherwise is just silly.

They are also subject to state laws. You keep implying these agents are somehow above the law. They are not.

And like I said, if it’s as you say and they’re not breaking the law then they should have nothing to worry about.

Yes, as the Federal agent sniper who shot Randy Weaver's wife can attest, yes, the state can go after you.

There's a long history of US States prosecuting Federal officials for criminal activities conducted within their jurisdiction.

The precedent goes back more than 160 years. Supreme Court rulings are very clear on this. From Johnson v State of Maryland (1920):

"Of course an employee of the United States does not secure a general immunity from state law while acting in the course of his employment. That was decided long ago by Mr. Justice Washington in United States v. Hart, Pet. C. C. 390, Fed. Cas. No. 15,316; 5 Op. Attys. Gen. 554. "
