CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I haven't heard about this.
But I think if Christians are going to claim that Christmas is about Jesus, it should certainly look that way! Why do we have to put up an Evergreen tree, decorate it, buy people presents, and and the Santa thing with children in order to be thankful and worshipful towards Jesus and what He did for us? It makes no sense.
I think more people are being convicted of this as the years pass.

It's not true.
You don't have to do anything. You are free to celebrate Christmas, or not, as you wish.
BTW, gifts are given i) because the Magi gave gifts to Jesus when they went to worship him - and that's Scriptural - and ii) because God gave us his greatest gift, Jesus, Romans 6:23.
And if more people would BE Santa - St Nicholas, a real bishop and who used to secretly give gifts to the poor - the world would be a better place.
