  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The US city of Paterson, New Jersey, has backed an ordinance to allow the adhan, the Muslim call to prayer, to be broadcast over loudspeakers.

Under the new measure, which still has to go through two public hearings before being implemented, the adhan would be exempt from the city's noise control ordinance and allowed to be broadcast outside every day between 6am and 10pm.

The resolution was approved by council members on Tuesday by a vote of 7-0, with two members abstaining.

For more than five years I lived less than 500 feet from a mosque. There was a second one located within a half a mile. Once you become used to it, you rarely notice the call to prayer.

That's one of the saddest things I've ever read.
I’m sorry if my comment came across that way. I was just trying to reassure the member I replied to that the call to prayer becomes a natural part of life and isn’t bothersome.

No need to apologize! I just find Islam's 'call to prayer' extremely disturbing outside of Islamic countries and the fact it has been normalized.....it's just sad to me.

I know! Just like the horror of living close to the pealing Cathedral bell. I guess it is the price we pay for living in a free society with religious tolerance, and all that. :sunglasses:

I understand Islamophobia, religious intolerance (Across the board) and fear mongering

How ever I will point out that there is a Mosque and religious center about an hour from here, that offers a food bank for EVERYONE I mean ANYONE Not just Muslims. They have a free clinic for ALL PERSONS including free eyeglasses ANYONE can seek help there

With SNAP Benefits unavailable, they will be granting meals and food to anyone who needs groceries. ANYONE Free Food Just show up with the SNAP card and get some food on the table

I made mention a week ago to a friend who is a Baptist pastor that with SNAP benefits declining perhaps the congregation should pitch in and help out those who need food.

He has yet to respond

I am increasing donations to local secular/community food banks now since no churches are involved, I am giving directly to secular community food banks and charities. I really do not know many Muslim people, but if they
asked me for help I were surely help them

Yeah, I guess it’s like living near to railway lines, and after a while the noise of the trains doesn't bother you.
