Chicago is up next for the National Guard. 'They're screaming for us,' says Trump

"They're wearing red hats just like this one. But they're wearing red hats," he said. "African American ladies, beautiful ladies are saying, please, President Trump, come to Chicago, please."

[I believe they had tears in their eyes, too.]

Trump's comments come at a point where Chicago has seen significant reductions in violent crime, according to Mayor Brandon Johnson's office. High-profile mass shootings continue to rock the city. But overall crime has declined, including a 30% drop in homicides, the mayor's office said. Deploying the National Guard could potentially undermine the city's progress, Johnson said.

Join the Guard....and tour American cities! Take selfies with tourists. Show off your military hardware. Try to look useful while strolling the city parks and trains stations.

The authoritarianism is getting worse. Trump targets Chicago and New York as Hegseth orders weapons for DC troops, according to theGuardian.

Donald Trump has threatened to take his federal crackdown on crime and city cleanliness to New York and Chicago, as the defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, ordered that national guard troops patrolling the streets of Washington DC under federal control will now be armed.

The US president talked to reporters in the Oval Office and said: “When ready, we will start in Chicago … Chicago is a mess.” He added that then the administration “will help with New York”, amid the controversial and aggressive federal efforts to control leading Democratic-voting cities, each of which has a Black mayor.

On the issue of suddenly announcing that it would now arm the federalized troops in DC, the defense department did not immediately offer any other details about the new development or why it was needed.

People are saying that Trump intends to provoke violence in the cities as proof that martial law is needed to quell the emergency. As part of a general emergency, elections can be suspended and his lovely Christians won't ever need to vote again.

Pentagon working on plans for military deployment in Chicago, Washington Post reports

The Defense Department planning, in the works for weeks, involves several options, including mobilizing at least a few thousand members of the National Guard as soon as September, the Post reported, citing officials familiar with the matter.

"Chicago is a mess," Trump, a Republican, told reporters on Friday, deriding its mayor as he continued his attacks on cities run by Democratic politicians. "And we'll straighten that one out probably next."

JB Pritzker, the Democratic governor of Illinois, which includes Chicago, said in a statement the state had received no outreach from the federal government on whether it needed assistance. He said there was no emergency warranting a National Guard or other military deployment.

"Donald Trump is attempting to manufacture a crisis, politicize Americans who serve in uniform and continue abusing his power to distract from the pain he is causing working families," Pritzker said.

Trump mobilizing up to 1,700 National Guard troops in 19 states to widen crime and immigration crackdown

The troops, who will largely be activated across Republican-controlled states, will serve in support of the administration’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations, as well as other law enforcement priorities, according to comment from unnamed Pentagon officials and documents obtained by Fox News.

The deployments will take place across the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Wyoming, per Fox.

The apparent expansion in operations comes as President Trump threatened to send the “regular military” into Chicago for a similar crime crackdown, as well as potentially send troops to New York City.

IMO, that is the strategy. Sooner or later some one is going to resist with more than a hoagie....and when that happens, the Trump media will swing into action.

One example: The hoagie thrower, through his attorney, had already offered to come down to the police staton and turn himself in the following day. But, of cours, that had no production value for MAGA. Instead, they sent a SWAT team to his apartment....released this video....

Trump's plan to create Guard units to quell civil unrest alarms experts

President Donald Trump on Monday ordered the Pentagon to create National Guard units in Washington, D.C., and across the country that would be designated to tamp down civil protests and ensure public safety -- a job that historically and legally has belonged to civilian law enforcement.

Critics called Trump's desire to build a kind of rapid "reaction force" for civil unrest alarming, insisting his order pushes legal boundaries for the National Guard, an auxiliary force whose mission is to help fight foreign enemies abroad or aid Americans in times of extraordinary crisis like hurricanes and floods.

In an executive order signed Monday, Trump called on Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to designate Army and Air National Guard members in each state who could rapidly deploy to help federal, state and local law enforcement "in quelling civil disturbances and ensuring the public safety and order whenever the circumstances necessitate, as appropriate under the law."

Under the law, known as Posse Comitatus, the military is barred from acting as law enforcement on U.S. soil. But there are rare exceptions. As in the case of D.C., troops deployed for a federal mission but kept under the command of governors -- under a law known as Title 32 -- are exempt from Posse Comitatus.

“I’m the president of the United States. If I think our country is in danger — and it is in danger in these cities — I can do it.”

@a televised cabinet meeting on August 26, 2025:

“You have a guy in Illinois, the governor of Illinois, saying that crime has been much better in Chicago recently and Trump is a dictator,” Mr. Trump said. “Most people are saying, ‘If you call him a dictator, if he stops crime, he can be whatever he wants’ — I am not a dictator, by the way.”

About half an hour later, Mr. Trump said that he “would have much more respect for Pritzker” if the governor approved a National Guard deployment in his state.

“Not that I don’t have — I would — the right to do anything I want to do,” Mr. Trump said. “I’m the president of the United States. If I think our country is in danger — and it is in danger in these cities — I can do it.”
