In what university science class did you have that experience?
The same one you had it in.

I didn't have it at all. Really, you should tell us, because any university science class conducted in that fashion need to be publically condemned. The same one you had it in.

Not in any science class I (or apparently anyone else here) ever took at college. What I learned about Pluto at college was that it was classified as a planet based on information available at the time,Neither did I.
Bingo.
So I'll say this again:
College science professors expect you to believe what they teach you, or it's curtains.

I took my first graduate course in immunology from a professor who was a YEC. He made no secret of his beliefs, but he never expected any of us to believe them. When I taught a biology class, I had at least one YEC. I told the class that all they had to do was learn what scientists say about the issue, and if they wanted to add "I don't believe any of that" on their papers, that would be fine.College science professors expect you to believe what they teach you, or it's curtains.
It's not just that, it's that if you say to biologists "there is more to the history of life than mutation and natural selection" I'm sure just about all of them would reply "Well duh".Copying the definition from an online dictionary only shows that you can copy the definition from an online dictionary.
Making a list of scientists with Steve as a first is not snobbery. Making a list of scientists, many of whom aren't biologists, to try and show that evolution is incorrect isn't snobbery either, actually. It's an appeal to authority, sure, but not snobbery. It's wrong and incorrect but not snobbery.
Previously you said scientists said "you have to believe us" and no matter how many times I asked you for an example, you didn't even bother to reply.Have you read the responses from some of these posters? Some of them are very direct in saying "this is how it is" and I'm not talking about the "hypothesis and theory" understanding.
...I break it down so even a 10 year old can understand it (if necessary). Science needs to start communicating with the common man world better.
The thread is about evolution. Not abiogenesis. There are those in this thread who can simplify any aspect of evolution is you like. But maybe you'd be better off checking that link I gave above. Now show those same steps in creating a living organism (with no scientific help) from non-living materials (that means no scientific lab to play around in). Can the steps be as nicely laid out as the Toyota Camry's problem?
Well, we made it to page 60. Not sorry to say, but nothing any of you said made me believe man evolved from a single cell organism through millions of years. I'll continue to promote that evolution has lots of holes in it to everyone I speak to about it. It has been a pleasure.
Coming from the UK that’s VERY strange to hear.if they wanted to add "I don't believe any of that" on their papers, that would be fine.
Question 6 (worth 8 marks): Describe briefly the differences between continental drift and plate tectonics:Coming from the UK that’s VERY strange to hear.
I get it. But sometimes those students just need the course to graduate. And maybe my being aware of their conflicts might even lead them to take a closer look at the issue.Coming from the UK that’s VERY strange to hear.
There are two types of teachers: Those who want the students to think for themselves and hopefully go beyond the knowledge of the teacher, and those who don’t. For the latter, it is a power trip that leads to a kind of brainwashing. Some students figure it out, and some don’t.I get it. But sometimes those students just need the course to graduate. Never met that attitude outside of a church. For the latter, it is a power trip that leads to a kind of brainwashing. Some students figure it out, and some don’t.
