  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is the same use of "special we had in elementary school, right?
Heaven forfend! I certainly wouldn't want to give the impression that these people held repugnant views due to something entirely beyond their control. Their repugnancy is chosen.

Social Security numbers and other private information unmasked in JFK files

The Social Security numbers and other private information of more than 200 former congressional staffers and others were made public Tuesday in the unredacted files related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, according to a review by The Washington Post.

“It’s absolutely outrageous. It’s sloppy, unprofessional,” said former Trump campaign lawyer Joseph diGenova, 80, whose private information was included in the release.

[He sounds defensive, where was he in 1963?]

The Post, in its review of the previously redacted material, discovered the Social Security numbers, birthplaces and birth dates of more than 100 staff members of the Senate Church Committee, established in 1975 to investigate abuses by America’s intelligence agencies and government. The Post also discovered more than 100 Social Security numbers of staff members of the House Select Committee on Assassinations, which investigated the killing of Kennedy. Many of the individuals are still alive.

Many whose Social Security numbers were exposed had become high-ranking officials in Washington. They include a former assistant secretary of state, a former U.S. ambassador, researchers in the intelligence world, State Department workers and prominent lawyers.

“In some of these documents, the only thing that was being redacted for the last 20-plus years was someone’s Social Security number,” Zaid said. “It is dangerous for these individuals, who can now be doxed.”

[Yes, but if they shot JFK, maybe this transparency is warranted.]

Why would this information be included in the files? That seems completely unnecessary.

That tells me these are not files specific to the assassination investigation but everything peripheral to it.

They did, apparently, uncover a couple old CIA operations.

Not everything the CIA has done has been bad.
I didn't say or imply that. Just noting that their incompetence had also revealed things that were not intended to be revealed at this time (like the SSNs).

Yeah he declassified it today and it all got posted to the internet an hour later.
Yup, his rush to impress people like you resulted in at least one instance of a lawyers social security number being included in the released files. It should have been redacted.

I wonder how many more similar mistakes will be noted before the dust clears.

What was incompetent about having a complete dossier on everyone touched by the investigation? Remember: Back then nobody used their SSN as security information--that didn't happen until the Internet era. When I was first in the military, our SSN was just a numeric version of our names. Heck, we had it imprinted on our bank checks. It meant nothing...back then.

Having a complete dossier is far from incompetent. Releasing classified documents without redaction would normally be considered incompetent. But the blame there goes to the top, the guy who ordered the release without anything even close to enough time to properly review the documents.

You are right; 61 years is not even close enough time to review the documents properly.

Of course, nobody has been reviewing them all this time. Those are records put away by the current staff's grandfathers.

Not people like me, as I wasn't particularly interested in the release.

In a deep underground vault that absolutely no one had access to. I'm surprised Geraldo Rivera wasn't there when the thing was finally cracked open.

I said nothing nor intended to about those who created the documents. Only those that released them w/o redacting PII. (You know who you are Pam.)

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) – who will lead the task force – said the congressional probes will include “the assassinations of JFK, RFK and Dr. Martin Luther King, unidentified aerial phenomena, also known as UAPs, unidentified submerge objects, also known as USOs, the Epstein client list, the origins of Covid-19 and the 9/11 files.”
Not much on the Epstein client list, but hey look!

Luna says lawmakers have evidence of ‘interdimensional beings’

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) said during a Wednesday podcast episode with Joe Rogan that lawmakers have seen evidence of “interdimensional beings.”

“I think that they can actually operate through the time spaces that we currently have,” Luna said during the podcast.

“And what I can tell you without getting into classified conversations is that there have been incidences that I believe were very credible people have reported that there have been movement outside of time and space,” she continued.
