  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Walz who said, "Mind your own business" set up snitch line during COVID

If I am sick, I stay home.

Why are you being dishonest? I just said that when I cough and sneeze I do so into either a tissue or my upper sleeve, as the CDC has recommended for decades.

Why are you pretending like a 6-foot social distancing rule that "just sort of appeared" is in any way similar to staying home and away from people when you're not feeling well?

What should have happened didn't happen....and I'm not blaming any particular administration. I think they both should have done better.

They understood a few things rather quickly that held true. The demographics most at risk were the elderly and immuno-compromised. Death rates weren't some catastrophic black death levels...they likely wouldn't exceed 3-5%. I'm not saying that's a good thing...just that it's not the end of civilization. Because it's essentially a cold virus....it's going to mutate rapidly, and most likely to a less lethal variant.

Those aren't ideal factors for a risk assessment....but a cost/benefit risk assessment should have been done. Small businesses were bled dry. Many left unemployed and inevitably evicted from homes they rented. These things also kill a lot of people.

A plan for shutting down businesses and demanding people stay home unemployed may have prevented deaths...but it also certainly caused them too. At no point did our government consider which might be causing more death, last longer, or be more difficult to find solutions for.

...then maybe dial back your point of reference.

Reminds me of my local neighbor reporting me to the HOA for leaving my trash can out too long would be one example. Okay, maybe that is too minor....then again, do we know what consequence, if any, people who were reported faced?

It's a bit weird to think that had the government been honest about mask effectiveness, not suggested businesses require masks, not used divisive rhetoric to scare the feeble minded into complicity, and perhaps promoted the idea of personal responsibility (you know....I'm responsible for my health, you're responsible for yours, not the gross "these people are walking plague spreaders because they don't wear a mask" rhetoric)....perhaps these people never would have gotten in an argument that resulted in murder and prison but hey....gotta break a few eggs, eh comrade?

Walz actions probably saved several thousand lives.

Minnesota has the fourth LOWEST Covid death rate in the US. At 31.3 deaths/100,000 its death rate is less than half that of the worst state (Kentucky 72.9).

If you want to go over the numbers, we can, because they’re also baloney, but let’s try to really refocus on the points you brought up in your post before you go walk over into conspiracy theory wonderland.

Do you least understand the difference between your misrepresentation (he opened a hot line and encouraged people to spy on others) and the reality (people were calling with concerns and to address the issue of 911 being overburdened, they opened a hotline instead)?
Walz actions encouraged people to call and rat on thier neighbors. Instead of calming people he implemented such strategies that caused people to be so fearful they just had to snitch to save their lives etc. People were made to think this was the end of civilization. This was the Democrat response. It scared people because the Democrats frightened them so badly in Minnesota.

So instead of telling people to stop calling 911 on their neighbors Walz elected to encourage it by having a hotline where people could.

Lol I read what happened, from Walz defenders.
Clearly you didn’t, but hey, whatever. No skin off my nose if are ok with showing you’re not informed on the topic.
