After the immunity ruling, Trump's team was able to argue that if the alleged crimes were in fact committed as part of Trump's work on the election, then those acts were official acts per the Court's guidance, and therefore not eligible for prosecution.
There were concerns that, should Trump undergo sentencing on July 11, he could have been hauled off to prison and prevented from accepting his party's nomination in person. With the moving of the date to September, Trump will now be able to attend the Milwaukee convention, accept that nomination, speak to his delegates, and campaign into September unencumbered by lawfare.
This is a win for Americans who want an honest and fair election. Now Merchan can only keep Trump from campaigning for a month and a half, albeit the last days of the campaign are the most critical.

We will know on September 6th according to this:

Imposition of sentence is when any punishment begins, such as probation or jail...

But this is good to know, thanks for the heads up.

This is the October surprise... It'll be centered around this is my bet.

That's quite the stretch there.

Not sure when falsifying business records for one's own corporation became part of the POTUS' official duties, though.

But, I guess Trump's lawyers are gonna have a good time trying to figure out how to make this ..... story work,

I agree that the New York case really has nothing to do with the Supreme Court decision on immunity... But the Merchan case is horrible and doesn't need anything but an unbiased legal eye to set it right.

It just needs appealed.

Really? Tell me, what, specifically, was horrible about it? The prosecution's case? The defendant's defense? The jury's verdict?

And please, don't spare the details!

It just needs appealed.
It will be, rest assured.

Though, I don't know what specific legal or procedural irregularities could be the basis for an appeal. Could you provide the details?

-- A2SG, be nice to have some of those....all I've seen so far are vague, generalized dismissals. No specifics whatsoever....

Trump didn't falsify any business records. The case will eventually be thrown out due to numerous violations of the United States Constitution.

The jury disagrees with you. 34 times.

The case will eventually be thrown out due to numerous violations of the United States Constitution.
Please cite those violations.

-- A2SG, and please, be specific....it'll be a nice change of pace....

We've had this conversation before:
That contained mostly opinion, vague accusations without substance, and a misunderstanding of the law.

No specific violations of the US Constitution.

They may have argued that point, but it's invalid. The Court's decision does not state nor infer that campaign activies are official acts.

I personally don't see how any argument could be made successfully in an attempt to label signing private business documents for your own private business that you supposedly completely divested from before becoming president could be construed to be "Official Acts" of the office of the president. Even if they argue they were part of the campaign, they wouldn't be part of the official duties of the office.

So numerous you haven’t listed any?
Wow, that must be a huge number!

Which cannot happen until after sentence is imposed, (per NY law).
So…?

Correct... Trump didn't want to potentially be prevented from campaigning all summer and to him it was worth it to delay ..

Depending on the sentence he could have been completely prevented from campaigning and/or being at the convention, so he put sentencing off.

it sure is too bad that you couldn't have been convicted felon Trump's lawyer and pointed out this obvious mistake by his defense team and argued in front of the jury for them.

As we see ... things can change ... we will see what ... if anything happens in September .... I do not believe this will be resolved until after the election ... we will have to wait and see

The acts in question in the NY case took place in 2016 before Trump was president.
That's not accurate. Cohen did make the deal with Daniels before the election, but the reimbursement, and thus the falsification of business records, happened after Trump was already President.
