There is no legitimate reason why the audio tapes continue to be withheld. The White House released the transcripts., let's see if the transcripts are accurate. What's the big deal? Democrats have used tricky tactics before, I wish they had not in the past. But the reality is that sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. MTG did get the response from AOC she wanted in order to dispense with the normal rules of debate and amendments before the Democrats figured what was going on.

How are documents recorded into the Congressional records (for history’s sake)?
Aren’t they still mostly words on paper?
If the videos are released won’t all of the “findings” be done with ink on paper, (or electronic text)?
The videos aren’t necessary, Congress doesn’t always get want Congresss wants, this is how the Executive Branch “checks” the power of the House.

No shame on the committee chair for not keeping it in check though, huh? Comer did NOTHING. Said NOTHING. He allowed it to start and said not a word to MTG for her personal attack that is prohibited by committee rules on Rep. Crockett. There must be a (R)eason. What do you think it was?

There is no legitimate reason for the committee to demand the actual video recordings. They have the full transcript. They have Hur's report. Hur testified in front of the committee. What do they think Hur left out? The committee wants the "tapes" so they can use them in political attacks against the president. They want the stutters, the pauses, the little gaffs. They want something they can use to smear the president because their guy didn't deliver because there's simply nothing there.

I watched the entire (recorded) hearing on C-SPAN.
MTG was out of order from the very start. Crosstalking while other Committee members had the floor.
Committee Chair Comer refused to take action early to shut her down. She kept going with Cortez rightly calling her our for insulting another member of the Committee. Comer claimed he did not hear the comments and at one point, reminded everyone that he wears hearing aides.

What an absolute joke of a Committee.

...and their behavior is what get the attention (the USA story referenced in the op is a perfect example). I'm guessing 90% of the people clicking on these stories could not begin to address the topic of the hearing (hint, it wasn't the tapes).

Damaging in what way? They have ALL of the information and transcripts. They have the report made from the interviews by their hand-picked special council. They have his testimony in front of the committee. If there were anything RELAVENT that was damaging, it's already been presented. So, what do they want with the actual recordings themselves?

They want to use them to smear the president. They want to be able to take clips and use them to further the MAGA narrative of a "president in mental decline" which is purely a political hit job and has nothing to do with what the committee claims it's investigating that it still hasn't brought impeachment charges for. It's disgusting and pathetic. Comer is a hack. Gym Jordan is a hypocrite (contempt of congress? pfft.). MTG is a disgusting human being. And ALL of them, along with most of the Republican party and the RNC are beholden to a criminal whom they worship like the messiah along with a third of the country.

Actually there is.

The special counsel determined two things. That Biden willfully committed a crime, and that he has apparent dementia so severely that he couldn't be charged with it because he was too sympathetic a defendant.

Now, this same man is running for a second term claiming perfect mental acuity.

We need, the American people need to see that video. We need to know whether Biden can actually handle a second term.

If he can't the Dems really do need a new candidate. I understand it could throw a wrench in both parties runs .. but the people running for president can't have Alzheimer's. They just can't. We need a red line here.

Dude. We read the transcripts. It wasn't that the SC was too sympathetic. He stated that he believed a jury would be. The SC's characterization of Biden was a politically motivated fantasy. They didn't fool anyone. It's already been presented to the American people. There's is nothing there. That's why they want to be able to take the audio and video and create their own cuts to support that false narrative. Get off it.
