Is it safe to assume that billionaires are well informed people? If so, do they know something that we don't know?

On a more serious note, what is your opinion about the information in that article?

If people want to dig a hole in the ground and fill it with fripparies, then it's their money.

The vast majority of "preppers" are not billionaires. This has been going on for decades. Basically, since the Cuban Missile Crisis. Probably before. Billionaires likely feel they have more to lose that needs protection, I would imagine.

Who would want to live in a world of nuclear winter and radiation? Unfortunately, most our kids don't realize the seriousness of what's happening in the world today like the boomers and Gen Xers do. Or did some of us forget? The music and culture were different in my day, so I'll party like it's 1999!

Interestingly, a lot of people thought the world (as we know it) was going to end as the calendar flipped from 1999.

(My band played Prince's 1999 on that years NYE party at a hotel. I think some folks were expecting the PA and lights to go out at midnight.)

Being a billionaire does not stop one from being as crazy as a box of frogs.

Well if any of these Billionaires are not believers, then i know something they do not know and what i know has eternal consequences. So they can build all the bunkers they want, but when God reigns down His wrath, they will not be able to dig deep enough into the earth.

Lol there were some engineers at work that thought planes were going to fall out of the sky. I didn't believe it so one night I forwarded the clock on the programmable logic controller that I worked on and lo and behold nothing happened. I worked at a government facility, and I was taking a gamble. I like to say that I'm from Missouri the show me state.
Even in the late 90s there were songs about the destruction of war and tons of songs about nuclear war in the 80s.

I recall making the same argument from a similar experince; the CMOS battery in my computer died. The computer booted to the date of 01-01-00 every time. Yet still functioned perfectly - other than - the dates were wrong on all dated material.
I expected some disruption in "timed" or scheduled events but nothing more. The survivalists around me mocked until Januay 1.

I think the nuclear catastrophe threat was totally real, and we got through it by a lot of hard diplomatic work plus some luck. Even Y2K was a real tho overstated thing which was avoided thanks to a lot of effort at fixing vulnerable code. Thats my understanding anyway.

Most understand quite keenly the true environment around them, and in this I agree with them...

If I had the financial resources of the super wealthy I'd build me a bunker too...

All we actually have to do is examine the events of the last 7 years in light of human nature and note also the direction the political and economic situation is going, to know there's a good chance in light of human nature for civil unrest making it's way to people's doors in the next few years barring some unexpected miracle.

Plus, the wealthy are always a specific target in times of unrest. A thief will pass over the shack to hit up the mansion.

My main concern was a computer virus modeled on the Michelangelo which was dormant except for spreading until Michelangelo's birthday when it became active and erased the entire hard drive. My guess is that the pros in that area did not bring the idea up lest they give anyone the idea.

So New Years eve I checked the news, after all Australia and New Zealand are 17 hours ahead. If there was an issue I was going to need to set the clock on a lot of computers back a couple of weeks. Thankfully nothing happened.

Since over 90% of what is needed for a doomsday bunker is also stuff that is rather nice to have if there is a power outage or a hurricane (after all the example given is in Hawaii) why not build something like this if you are swimming in money.

It also makes a nice place to get away, sort of like Superman's fortress of solitude in the old comic books.

If I were that rich and doing something like that the main wine cellar would be right next to the actual bunker. And I might even make the whole setup being amenable to an end of the world party part of the design criteria.

Something like this is also a great way to show off your wealth.

So I do not see this as any important sign.
