  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I did try.
You answered this question? "You can't think of any other election Biden ran in that wasn't against other Democrats?"
Surely you did not. Either try to answer or point to me where you did. Try having a conversation like a human this time.

That's nice, but in my state GOP legislators went out of their way to research which forms of ID minority voters were least likely to have or be able to get and mandated those were the only ones allowed.
Of course. There would have been no point, otherwise.

In 1980 Paul Wyrick said, “I don’t want everybody to vote . . . our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down.”

I haven't seen anything that's changed since then.

If you have to go back 43 years to find a conservative saying that
Justin Clark, a senior political adviser and senior counsel to Trump’s re-election campaign, made the remarks about voter suppression on 21 November as part of a wide-ranging discussion about strategies in the 2020 campaign, including more aggressive use of monitoring of polling places on election day in November 2020.

“Traditionally it’s always been Republicans suppressing votes in places,” Clark said at the event. “Let’s start protecting our voters. We know where they are ... Let’s start playing offense a little bit. That’s what you’re going to see in 2020. It’s going to be a much bigger program, a much more aggressive program, a much better-funded program.”

Republicans want to keep Americans from voting for exactly the same reason that democrats want them all to vote.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to talk about the results of the 2020 election either in your shoes. Double plus ouch for the Republican to lose to Biden.

If you have to go back 43 years to find a conservative saying that, I can come up with far more examples of democrats saying far worse, and far more recently.
>> They had things, levels of voting that if you’d ever agreed to it, you’d never have a Republican elected in this country again, <<

But not student IDs, for some strange reason.

Probably because some students are here on a student visa....and not citizens.

I mean...that's just a guess of course, and I only spent 5 seconds thinking about it.

I suppose it could also be some massive conspiracy to prevent voting like you said.

Same as people with driver's licenses, yet for some reason those were acceptable. So no, citizenship didn't seem to matter. Seems more consistent with calls from GOP leaders to raise the voting age because they don't like how younger voters vote.

I mean...that's just a guess of course, and I only spent 5 seconds thinking about it.

Perhaps a bit more thought might be in order, given the obvious flaw in the knee-jerk assumption that immigrants were to blame yet again.

I guess one would have to actually look at all of the info in my posts to come to an honest conclusion on the preponderance of the evidence., as opposed to pulling one sentence out of a series of posts from nearly two months ago.
