  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

World leaders and celebrities have long been stumped by rules to observe in front of members of the Royal Family.
Though the royal website does not share much about these traditions, there was much speculation the leader broke them when placing his hand on the back of His Majesty.
He was also spotted walking at least two steps in front of Charles – a big faux-pas

America’s corporate media stooges continue to exhibit blatant left-wing bias in their restrained coverage of President Joe Biden’s countless gaffes compared with the open contempt they displayed toward Donald Trump during his presidency.
In the latest blatant breach of journalistic objectivity, the legacy media are curiously silent about two major faux pas by the current president while he met with England’s King Charles III this week.
During a visit to Windsor Castle on Monday, a bumbling Biden walked in front of the king in violation of royal protocol that people should not turn their backs on the head of the British monarchy.

The President of the United States is not subject to the rules of royal protocol which dictate where he may or may not walk.

I thought we fought a war some 200 odd years ago so that we didn't have to care about what the British Royal Family thinks or be particularly sympathetic to what their unelected figureheads see as "important customs"

There was some outrage, it was all just coming from the democratic side for that one

Symptom of the "mindlessly bash any ol thing you can find to attack the other side" culture we've had for the past 20 years.

The inverse reactions to the two scenarios from the respective parties on this one is entirely predictable.

I'm old enough to remember the Clinton bashing, Bush bashing, the Obama bashing, the Trump bashing, and now the Biden bashing... (may have been already going on during HW's term, but I was pretty young for that one)

It’s this vs making fun of handicapped people and injecting light and bleach to cure COVID.

Hm…. Decisions.

We cared when it was Trump - when did it change?

I have to give props to those narratives that no matter how many times they are completely debunked, some still trot them out like they were either true or effective forms of debate.

Now, if you want to debate the statement above - please follow forum rules and open a thread and I will be happy to once again show the proof.

But this thread is about two Presidents, both breaking protocol and one complained about in the media and the other, basically ignored.

Probably because more people think Trump is a rotter, a bounder and a cad: so more people take notice when he does another something awful.

If Trump wasn’t so awful he’d get a lot less flak.

It's pretty funny actually because if you go look at statements and reports that actually consulted the Palace on these faux pas' no one seems to really care except the opposing party of the offender who are not British. People just want their opponents to look foolish whether they actually understand traditions and customs or not. That's probably about the only real similarity between the parties.

To me, it just looked like 2 old men struggling to look natural walking a few steps from a vehicle and ascend a few stairs for some pics. I could not care less about British protocol when dealing with the "royals." Not my king.

Nor mine.

They are chumps who think this had the slightest impact on anything.

It seems this thread is more about two presidents, both allegedly breaking protocol and one complained about on this website and the other, basically ignored. [I could find no contemporaneous discussion of the Trump incident here.]
