What are your thoughts folks? Is this police work? And if it was not police work, what is it?

Really. I read the entire article a couple of times. It's a good example of balanced, factual reporting. It contains extensive verbatim quotes taken from official documents or quoting those who are/were directly involved.

Unlike most of the right-wing US dishrags I regularly see quoted on CF, the article is not laced with the reporter's opinions or obviously biased reporting.

I see extensive quotes of the lawyer for the "victims" I do not see any attempt to balance the coverage of the article.

Perhaps you should go back and reread the article. The Sheriff's Office has not provided a press statement since the issue is under investigation. In the absence of a statement from the alleged perpetrators, the Sheriff's Office or the investigators there is nothing the paper can say on their behalf.

"The FBI and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation are investigating the incident. The Rankin County Sheriff’s office did not reply to the Mississippi Free Press’ request for comments following calls on Tuesday and Wednesday. WLBT published a report Wednesday night, which included a statement from the sheriff.

Mississippi Department of Public Safety Communications Director Bailey Martin told the Mississippi Free Press in a text message on Wednesday that the “incident is under investigation by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation. Due to this being an open and ongoing investigation, no further comment will be made at this time.”

The paper has also been quite open about Shabazz (the lawyer) reputation for racist comments.

Shabazz has drawn condemnation from some civil rights organizations over the years because of his views and past remarks about race and Jewish people.

I cannot believe this is the response. The man dead at police hands doesn't even deserve to be called a victim, he is still called a "victim".

Do you have any clue of what the results would be of having a gun discharged in the mouth? That is part of what makes this story questionable at best.

the case report and the booking report are available but not used by the reporter, the attorneys for the officers are available, the officers may even have made public statements but it is not indicated that any of these sources were contacted by the reporter.
