It does, thank you.Sure...since you asked so nicely.
I'll start by stating that I didn't quite believe the initial story, as it was rather extreme, and didn't make much sense.
Obviously, from what I've learned from the sentencing....if anything....the media has downplayed not just the horrific nature of this incident but the reputation of the sheriff's office themselves. I tried to find out more about the "goon squad" and its been difficult beyond the details of this particular case.
I did find a NYT investigation that probably has more but is paywalled. I also found a local reporter providing some background....

I'm glad the reign of terror these "men" inflicted upon the community has stopped....but unless this is a massive department (and that seems unlikely) I believe not only should the sheriff resign....I think it's unlikely he hasn't helped clean up after the crimes of these men before and should be investigated. Likewise, I think it's likely that at least a judge and prosecutor are involved with these idiots as well. Apparently, they've been using these sadistic methods on citizens for a couple of decades at least.....and that's hard to do without someone more powerful than the sheriff having your back. I think that previous arrests and convictions should be looked at hard, and likely there will be multiple cases that should be thrown out.
The stain this sheriff's office has left on the community should see it disbanded. They can't restore their reputation. A new sheriff's department or police force should be created to replace this one....from the most junior deputy to the sheriff himself. In the meantime, neighboring police or sheriff's should be placed into this jurisdiction and serve the public until the replacement law enforcement can be created. I don't believe anyone working there over a month was unaware what was going on....and the level of criminality here is unprecedented in my knowledge.
I suppose that the only upside is the deputies involved will be unlikely to survive to their first parole hearing.
I hope that satisfies your curiosity regarding my opinion of the case and this sheriff's office.
