Understand the importance of the NT. This isn't belittling or minimizing the story of Jesus and other topics in the NT in the slightest manner.
----
Know some only consider the NT but there are gems primarily in the OT which helps our understanding.

One example is the fear of the Lord which is in the OT over 50 times compared to once in the NT.

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever." Psa 111:10

Some of the other Scriptures:
- Having the fear of the Lord means we love what He loves and hates what He hates (Psa 97:10, Pro 6:16-19).
- We're to teach children to have the fear of the Lord (Psa 34:11).
How to have the fear of the Lord:
"My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God" Pro 2:1-5.

The NT verse:
- Churches walked in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit (Acts 9:31).

Wondering about other topics that are primarily in the OT.

What would we have without having the old testament? We would not have the ten commandments, we would not have the psalms and we would not have have the prophets. How many of us are aware, how important to Christianity in general and specifically with regard to knowing what the bible says about the end times!

Well, the OT looks forward to the promised Christ, and the NT gives us and looks back at God's fulfilment of that promised Christ. So we need the OT to rightly understand the NT, and the NT to rightly understand the OT. They go together and they proclaim the same truth, namely, God's grace through His Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ.

So for example, the fear of the Lord is built into the foundation that is the OT and it continues to be taught in the NT. We can find it in Matthew 10:28, Luke 12:4-5, Luke 18:2, Luke 23:39-43, Acts 10:22, Acts 10:34-36, Acts 13:26, Romans 3:18, Romans 11:20, 2 Corinthians 5:11, 2 Corinthians 7:1, Ephesians 6:5, Revelation 14:7 etc.

Somewhat related to this, one thing I think is good to realise is that whenever the OT is quoted or referenced in the NT, we should consider not just the single verses quoted, but the entire context and body of doctrines that go with it. This can help us see how rich, deep, and profound God's Word is! For example, when Jesus cried out on the cross: "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?", He's not merely quoting the first verse of Psalm 22, but the Holy Spirit invites us to contemplate the entire Psalm and see how Christ is the fulfilment of it, and also to reflect on that Christ was truly forsaken for our sake! God be praised!

So although the NT can be a bit easier for us to grasp (at least it is for me!), you are quite right, we can rejoice in that God has given us the OT which gives us a fuller picture and a richer understanding of who Jesus is and what He has done for us!

God bless!

Would love to have Paul's notes here:

Acts 28:23
23. And they appointed him a day; and many assembled, and came to him at his lodgings. And he explained to them respecting the kingdom of God, testifying and persuading them concerning Jesus, out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

God forms us:

-“For You formed my innermost parts; You knit me [together] in my mother’s womb” Psa 139:13
-“Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?” Mal 2;10
-“The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.” Job 33:4
"I will put ligaments on you, place muscles on you, and cover you with skin. I will put breath in you, and you will live. Then you will know that I am Yahweh." Eze 37:6
"Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture." Psa 100:3

Are there any NT verses on this topic?

One thing I go to the OT for that doesn’t get a whole lot of press in the New Testament is waiting on God. *Disclaimer, some translations say “hope” instead of wait.

Ps 25:5 Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; all day long I wait for you.

Ps 27:14 Wait on the Lord, be strong and let your heart be courageous, wait on the Lord.

Ps 37:7 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him

Ps 37:34 Wait for the Lord and keep his way.

Is 40:31 Those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary they will walk and not faint.

This idea of waiting on God. Not taking things into my own hands. I [through my studies] find that it does carry over into the NT, but under a different pretext.

John 15:1-5… I AM the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me will be fruitful.

A branch can only wait and abide to bear fruit. So when the NT speaks of abiding in Christ, that harkens back to the OT idea of waiting.

So what is waiting?

It’s not a passive, sit around and do nothing. I liken it to a waiter/waitress bussing tables. A guest sets at your table, and you begin to serve them. But you only serve them what they order from you. And you do not serve what they do not order. So you wait for them to make an order, and once it’s made you fulfill it, exactly as requested. And notice, the waiter/waitress doesn’t just stand around, they are constantly moving, checking, staying in communication with their guest to see if there’s any new thing to be ordered/fulfilled.

Like many people, I ofter appreciate things being spelt out in a bit more detail to aid my understanding, it's sometimes really helpful to check some things out by looking at parallel passages in the Old testament.
