A blizzard warning has been issued for Hawaii, with at least 12 inches of snow forecast this weekend

In addition to blizzard conditions, wind gusts over 100 mph are also expected, according to the alert issued by National Weather Service Honolulu

wow this is almost like hell freezing over. A bit of a sign of the End times.

(edit in later)
OK since this is for the mountain summits I take that back, uncommon but not unheard of when we get snow by the beaches then we are in Hell Freezing over territory.

Before we freak out, lets remember Hawaii has 2 peaks of over 13,000 ft.

Maybe I will look at the link and see if this is where the snow is, or if its at Waikiki Beach, in which case it is actually the end times.

Well sounds good on paper even if it is only at the highest elevations. 7th blizzard in 15 yrs. It's that white privilege from the north trying to take over.

I've heard of snow being called "white death", but "white privilege" is a new one.

A blizzard warning for tropical Hawaii may come as a surprise, but snow is not uncommon; the summits of the Big Island's Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa volcanoes reach nearly 14,000 feet in elevation.

First volcanos a couple years back and now this. They must be feeling forgotten and wants attention after decades of being a tourist destination were set aside for Mexico.

You say that like they asked for volcanos and snow (in the mountains).

The report spoke of the mountain summits, I thought. How much snow do the highest peaks normally get?

According to Ken Rubin, an assistant professor of geology and geophysics at the University of Hawaii, "it snows here every year, but only at the very summits of our three tallest volcanoes (Mauna Loa, Mauna Kea and Haleakala)."

"The snow level almost never gets below 9,000 feet in Hawaii during the winter, but since these mountains are taller than 13,600 feet, 13,700 feet and 10,000 feet, respectively, they get dusted with snow a few times a year. It rarely stays on the ground for more than a few days though.

I think this is unusual even for the summits. Plus, 100 mph winds? That can't be good.
