I was going to make a long and in-depth statement, but I realized that most of what I wanted to say has been said, and I cannot change other opinions of others; only they can change their own opinions, and only then can they open the door for other opinions.

So I'm just going to say you just made Satanichia Kurmizawa McDowell very happy for calling her satanic and evil.

You want to be balanced about this. A person can lift things up in idolatry, make idols before God, so you should watch yourself. On the other hand, there are things in anime that do show the love of God, and you want to find things that God can be glorified in. It is going to depend on how grounded you are in the bible and your walk with God, and what things causes a person to stumble or fall.

It’s fiction. No one who is sane and mature is watching anime and confusing it for reality. It’s far less damaging then beauty magazines as far as holding to reality.

Also the Bible itself is very violent. It includes tribal genocide, rape, infanticide and some books like Song of Solomon is very sexually graphic and not sortable for kids.

I don't think it should be on this site. Yes if we break down the word what they mean nothing wrong with it. Yet where is CHRIST in any of it? Do we even care about all the different "Gods" and "evil" and violence and then how they are dressed?

NO its not all evil but man you really really really have to wade through it and have to be strong in the faith. Have I watched before? Yes many times.. in the end I find I am never closer to Christ.. no faith comes from this and I find I am not ever thinking about Christ during the time I was watching. As long as I wanted to Christ will say nothing. Ask HIM if you should..but He will not answer unless we ask from the heart and are willing to stop.

For me EVERYTHING is about HIM and Him alone

for me everything is about Christ too. That’s why I can see the cosmic forces of good and evil in every form of fiction. I see the story of a hard heart becoming soft in how Sesshomaru cared about Rin, and I see love of laying down your life when I watch Higurashi and so on. All art comes from humanity. It reflects our hoes and fears, our good and bad. Fiction, including anime, is merely a tool to help work through things in a less invasive way.

for example many of us as kids learned to work through the loss of a loved one by seeing films like Old Yeller. Fiction of any kind should not be a dilemma for our faith in my personal opinion.

Now I used to be a HUGE anime fan. It was literally life. But at some point I started realizing that some anime encourage some non-christian values or satanism all-together. Come on, you know what I'm talking about. Naruto, DBZ, Reborn,Code Geass, Hunter X Hunter etc. Id love to know your opinions because I like anime but idk if I should watch it. Still praying and reading for it though.
I think it's like any fictional genre, some is good, some is bad, most are neutral. Anime is just an artform from a certain country; it's not inherently bad. How bad any particular show is for you to watch is mostly between you and God.

I'm not telling the anime makers to stop making anime, I'm telling Christians to be careful about what they watch. If you find no problem with Japan believing in Shintoism and Buddhism than I dare say you're not a Christian. A real christian would want to convert them. If Christianity's not the dominant religion then you should want to do something about it. Just because a culture is different does not mean that it is right.

1 John 4:5-8
They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error. Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

The Bible clearly states that we shouldn't believe or mess with religion. I say "religion" and not "other religions" because Christianity is not a religion. Religion is about man searching for God and earning your way. Christianity is God searching for man and God giving grace and salvation, for free. You don't have to earn anything. The Christian covenant is such: Our job is to obey God, and his part is to forgive us when we don't do our part.
You've got some issues, brother. a REAL christian would accept a person as they are. nothing is wrong with buddhism or any other religion. it's people like you who are the problem, who judge every person who believes in something opposite of what you do. what did God say? he told us Judge not lest ye be judged, right? then why you judging people who are perfectly peaceful and kind? You have no right to say what a real christian is, or tell a person if they're christian or not just because they accept the person no matter the religion. a real christian would show love to everyone, not judge them for believing otherwise. what makes you think Christianity is right? it may not be. we choose what we believe because we believe it may be right. but it also could be a gamble. learn to love man.

Matthew 18:3
And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Luke 18:17
Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.

How about it?

Should Christians watch anime? Depends on the type of anime. If good prevails over evil, then yeah, but if the anime gets too dark, or too violent, then no. Hunter X Hunter and One Piece are a pretty wholesome anime, and good always won, plus many friendships formed, and blood isn't used every episode. Also, we know the backstories of some of the villains, so we know they had suffering in their lives that lead up to them being jerkholes. If you want a mostly wholesome anime, Azumanga Daioh contains no blood, and no crass content. However, there is a creepy teacher who crushes on students, but he only gets 5 or so minutes on the TV show which runs for 26 episodes. He also is made fun of by the students. Also, anything by Studio Ghibli from the 1980s through 2014 is pretty good.

The Ugly
JoJo: No, that anime isn't good for anyone to watch. Dogs and cats have been attacked in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and so I gave up on the anime. There is too much blood every 3 minutes or less and crass innuendoes in Jojo's. Verdict is that Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is a terrible anime.

The Good
Cowboy Bebop: The anime is set in the late 21st century, and features bounty hunters, though rarely has death. The show always has a running joke that the crew of the Bebop never get rewards from catching the criminals, or the criminals get caught by other bounty hunters instead. Overall, the show isn't as violent, and is probably okay to watch as a Christian. Verdict is that Cowboy Bebop is a great show.
