I can't remember much of the music in the early 70s, as I was still just a foetus! lolWas it the same for the brethren in the UK back in the mid-70s when the 'Jesus Music' era began to impact pop-culture? Randy Matthews was one of my go-to musicians.
In my early days in the church, I was raised on Sunday school songs, the songs we used to sing in school assemblies (mostly from the "Come and Praise" songbook, and some of the traditional hymns we sung in church from our Anglican hymnbooks.
The late 80s, 90s and early 00's were a great time for contemporary church music. New songs were coming out all the time and they were usually very good. Catchy, very memorable, and easy to sing along, as individuals and as congregations. Being in a worship group, playing these songs was always great fun and they gave us such joy.
