Because that's what the crowd was there to do, if you listen to the audio.

She was unarmed. Watching the video footage (that I cannot post) you will see capital police standing in front of the doors until the elected officials were safely removed. It was after the elected officials were gone, she was shot.

We've already established what their intentions were. The fact that they missed the targeted officials by a minute or two isn't much of a defense.

Babbitt wasn't shot because she was a stereotype, she was shot because she breached one too many barricades.

I would be very surprised if crowd of angry black rioters gets that far into the capitol building before shots are fired.

Let alone to have the police present still politely acquiescing to them so they can start to tear down that barricade.

Most black protesters are met with real police presence before they breach the capitol. This happened at least in part because the protest wasn't taken seriously enough as a real threat.

To get that far inside the capitol building and pose a real threat you would be seeing something on the order of a military conflict for a comparable situation to occur.

Is that your answer to how many black protesters have been shot by police, no need to limit your answer to the capitol any demonstration that has happened in the past 2 years is acceptable.

The sanctimony and selective outrage is thick in this thread.

I watched it live that day on YouTube, from multiple streams at the same time. The vast majority were standing around, peaceably assembled. A small fraction of the number of people who were there that day decided to breech the capitol building. The video I saw showed megaphone wielders goading the crowd. People were engaged in argument, trying to stop the breaking of windows and entering of the building. I watched long after the breech. The majority of the people left the area. What I saw wasn't insurrection at all, it was a select few (relative to the head count) who decided to break into the building. Those who broke into the building entered with purpose. Those who entered after them walked around casually. If this was insurrection, it was the weakest insurrection in earth's history.

This country is divided in half. Each side blames the other for its problems. Maybe we can meet in the middle and actually do something about it instead of pointing fingers and holding little straw men at each other.

Those are my thoughts. You don't have to agree.

Trying to overturn the election results whilst placing the Vice President and other politicians at risk after violently gaining access, yeah, they're very lucky the bodies weren't blocking the doors 5 minutes in.

Why should anyone be concerned or take seriously the crazed rantings of a lunatic? They weren't actually part of the group. Those who committed violence do not represent the movement. Note that these were the arguments made by Democrats to defend similar events last year.
