• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hey all!
I couldn’t find a thread dedicated to thyroid so here I go.
To those who have gone through it or are going through it now, do share your experience and let me know the road from beginning to now. It would be awesome to chat with y’all that have something in common.

My story...
Spring 2018 I’ve noticed a small bump on my left side of my throat. I dismissed it as it didn’t get any bigger. It really wasn’t noticeable until I lost some weight- my mom asked if I’ve noticed the bump in neck.
I wasn’t really concerned until autumn 2019. During a routine check at my gynecologist. She recommended me to have it check etc. found a n ENT doc with decent reviews. Biopsy, Ultrasound and MRI confirmed a “possible cancerous mass”.
Now I was told many things from the worst case scenario “Option of nuclear treatment” along with “thyroid cancer is the cancer you want” to “we won’t know 100% until we perform a full thyroidectomy”.
Had surgery in feb 2020 - Fast forward a year this month. Taking my pill for the rest of my life, blood Analysis every month but so far cancer free. I have a nice little scar to remind me how lucky I am to have had that type of cancer (or so I am reminded by every one).

Thanks for stopping by, and look forward to reading your posts!

I haven't had that but know someone who did and had it removed. Same deal as you, the med and regular blood work ( and he was fairly young at the time). But from what I've heard it's an easier cancer to treat than many, and with a very high success rate. Yes you gotta take meds.

Confidence in God
Amazing Grace
Never forsaken, never alone
Christ, the Solid Rock
Eternity with God my Father
Rejoicing in hope, my Savior

I do not grieve as those who have no hope. My prayer is that during this illness the Lord God will be glorified through me. If He is not then the cancer in my body is only a disease.

I thank You Father for this wonderful opportunity to grow in spiritual strength, to learn patience and to trust You like never before. I rejoice when my heart swells in praise to You. May You be glorified forever. Amen.

The eternal God is your refuge and underneath are the Everlasting Arms. Deut. 33:27

I am a cancer survivor. I had third stage medullary thyroid cancer and had three surgeries. On October 16, 2020 I celebrated my 20th anniversary of being cancer free. At one point my oncologist told me that I had four tumors in my liver and that I was basically in the terminal stage. But an MRI determined that the dark spots on my liver as shown on a C-scan were bundles of vascular material mimicking tumors. I wrote a story about my bout with this disease and what God did through it all.

Take care look4hope. I hope you like the acronym. I will always remember the night that the Holy Spirit inspired me to write it down. I know that as those words came to me I was not having a creative moment but that God was giving me that acronym Himself. It applies to any trial or tribulation in our lives, not just an illness such as cancer. God bless and take care.

Sir! That’s definitely an inspirational story there. Thank you so very much for sharing.

Thank you for responding. For the record when I wrote about those who have no hope who I was referring to were those who are without Christ, nonbelievers. It might be easy to assume that those who are without hope are those who have a terminal diagnosis. That is not who I had in mind.

Hey Cody. I understood, at least from my part. It’s nice to be able to share this experience with others.
