John 15:
7 If you abide in Me, and My Words [rhema spoken word] abide in you, you will ask
what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.
You cannot open a book, make a list of commandments and convince yourself that
you are living by them.
You must open your heart in private prayer, receive His Word and abide in that Word,
by daily devotions and fervent prayers.
"The effective, fervent supplications of a righteous man avails much." James 5:16
16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and
bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in
My name He may give you.
17 These things I command you, that you love one another.
1 Peter 1:
22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere
love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart.
23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word
of God which lives and abides forever.
Thirty years ago, I was deeply convicted by these verses in 1 Peter. I was in a church where
most everyone referred to themself as a "born again Christian". I knew that I did not have a
fervent love in a pure heart. The word of Faith doctrine at that time was that if the Bible says
it and you believe it, then that is Truth, your faith is in believing what the Word tells you.
NO, I have found that the Truth is found when I obey the Word, not simply profess my belief.
My conclusion is this, through fervent prayer, we can experience fervent love for others, and
prove that we are His disciples. For without His Love abiding in Me, I have no love for others.
Matthew 4:4 But He answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every spoken word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
Matthew 22:32 I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.
Matthew 16:16 Simon Peter answered and said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.
