One part of the election the pollsters got wrong (once again) is how the House would fare in the process:

"(CNN)With a little more than two weeks to go before Election Day, the national environment continues to look bright for Democrats, who are trying to flip the Senate and grow their House majority -- not to mention kick President Donald Trump out of the White House."
Senate and House race ratings show Democrats increasingly competitive in Republican areas - CNNPolitics

Yeah, ok CNN.

Here's what's actually happening:
"Democrats went into this week’s congressional elections, in which all 435 House seats were up for grabs, with high hopes of significantly building on their majority control of the chamber.

Instead, in a jolt that has cast a pall over the party even as Democrat Joe Biden was close to toppling President Donald Trump, the party suffered the net loss of about a half-dozen House seats."
Glum U.S. House Democrats lament 2020 election losses

And yet we can turn on the TV and watch all the election coverage we want on CNN, ABC, NBC, etc., and they don't even make mention of the House races, even though all 435 seats were up for grabs.
Do they consider it to be just "fake news", or is it just something they'd rather not talk about since it not only doesn't fit the narrative they want to tell, but also goes against their own predictions?

I'm going with a combination of option 2 as well as the fact that the Presidential race is far juicier news at the moment. Ultimately, it's not great that the Dems lost seats in the House, but they retain the majority, so it's not a huge deal either. If we're talking about the Legislative branch, the Senate races are far more interesting, with both of Georgia's seats going to a runoff to determine control.

The entire national situation is a big disappointment for D's compared to recent expectations.

But its to be expected that the pres race sucks up all the oxygen, especially when its such an electoral college nail biter.

Personally, I do think a voter AND electoral college rejection of Trump is a huge deal tho.

Well, you're ignoring a good part of what I originally wrote:

Exactly. Nobody really cares. I don’t even think most Americans know who their house reps are.

They cared enough to vote to turn a good number of dem seats over to the Republicans. If the MSM cared to relay the facts to the people, they would be at least reporting it to some degree during their extensive TV coverage. Instead, they rattle on and on about how difficult it would be for Trump to win and which states he'd have to win, but they can't even mention how many seats the dems are losing in the House.

I’ve been watching TV news on and off. Can’t remember which channel, but the House results were reported. There was a graphic of the House chamber with red and blue squares representing each member. It was made perfectly clear that there were a number of blue squares that turned red. Not enough to affect the Democrats’ majority. So Nancy P. (known among Republicans as the Wicked Witch of the West) is still in charge.

I think it's safe to say they care a little bit more about the Presidential election. Especially this one.

You have a historic election, coming down to the wire, with the possibility of Trump becoming a one-term President. The entire world is waiting to see how this turns out, and you're surprised they're devoting their time to covering it?

In the middle of the NBA playoffs, do you think they're going to stop halfway through to show footage of the local high school game?

She might still have the majority leader position, but now has fewer minions to control. Meanwhile, the Senate will still have a Republican majority, which very much diminishes the threats posed by a harris administration. (Yeah, it's coming!) ;)

Actually, that will be determined in January. Both Georgia seats (iirc the state) went to run offs.

After seeing what happened in this election to the folks in Georgia, it's hopeful that they'll be voting Republican in January.

I'd say that we need to see the election through, and what the results actually are, before we start complaining about polling and whatever else. You can't judge how accurate the polling is before the votes are counted.

I do know there have been various articles about polling failures in Florida, that was a clear failure. I'm sure there will be plenty of reflection on failures in polling, and related stories, after the votes have been counted and the election decided.

Hey, as of now, a Biden administration, though likely, isn’t yet a certainty. So it’s way, way too early to think about a Harris administration. The last I heard is that the Senate makeup is 47 D’s (which includes 2 independents) and 53 R’s. Let’s assume the GA seats stay Republican. And that Kamala becomes VP, who can break a tie. Pres. Biden just needs 3 Republican Senators to vote his way. I can think of at least 3 R’s who aren’t conservative absolutists, and are willing to compromise—Susan Collins, Mitt Romney, and Lisa Murkowski. What I like most about Joe is that he’s kinda the same way. He’s pragmatic—not a far left firebrand. An old-school legislator who’s willing to make deals. If you recall, he brokered a budget compromise back when he was Obama’s VP and Republicans controlled both the House and Senate. It’s hard to believe in these days of left/right zealots, but compromise is not surrender. It’s how our government was designed to work. Our Constitution was the product of compromise. It’s the only way anything can be accomplished. It’s a big if, but if Joe can get the 2 sides to play together nicely—even a little bit—he’ll be the best President so far of this century.

I haven’t watched the other networks but CNN, MSNBC, and FOX are all talking about it, and it’s included in the election stats on their election pages. So I’m not sure what you’re referring to...

I listen to NPR and heard an in depth story on the Democratic Party’s failure to meet the high expectations.

The big story is the Presidential election. That’s what the average viewer wants covered. Get a grip and stop thinking cable news is supposed to feed you with a spoon.
