It’s an irrefutable fact Pope Francis is in favor of same-sex civil unions.

So it's not a matter of simply favoring the law allowing civil unions (which is already controversial) but approving of the civil unions themselves?

I guess what baffles me about the whole thing is the fact the people in the Vatican know the chaos this has caused the faithful and the matter has not be clarified. I think this is much bigger than not answering a formal dubia; this has caused extreme scandal and serious risk of schism. I hope the pope either doubles down or clarifies the meaning. Any clarification should be officially released in multiple languages so we all have understanding. But, what do I know, I am just a hillbilly Hoosier.

Yes. Especially when it undermines Church teaching. Does the pope disagree with Church teaching? Maybe he could clarify.

It really is. But we’ve had issues in the Church before and gotten through it. It’s just not fun to go through it. Just pray and voice your opinion. The disregard for the faithful begging for clarity is very sad when they are repeatedly ignored. While every political headline is catered to.
