Hi. I am elderly and homebound. No one from the small church I attended for ten years (had to stop going anywhere two years ago) visits or calls even though I was active and hosted a discipleship group in our home. With God's help I am standing against hurt and even bitterness and praying for that church, the pastor, and people I knew. I don't think this is unusual in these days where most people are busy about so many things. Actually I am blessed in many ways with three daughters and sons in law and grandchildren who love me and my husband who, though elderly, is still able to do a lot of caregiving. Not to mention many daily little blessings.

I read an old thread asking what homebound people might do to serve the Lord and hoped I might be able sometimes to encourage others here. I won't be posting though if others have already posted what I might post. Lord willing, I will try to check in when I am able. And, as the Holy Spirit reminds me, pray for some who need it.

I read the post about "no VPN's" and am a bit concerned because I do use one since I use the internet quite often and don't like to be tracked. Today I remembered to turn it off before posting and I think it was indicated that I would be warned before being kicked off.
My memory isn't what it used to be. :)

May you all be blessed as we grow in the Lord together.

Welcome to the forums. I hope you find it a welcoming and pleasant place to find companionship and community in these isolating times.

(I would welcome your prayers - as flawed as I am, I need them - it would give me comfort.)

Welcome to the forums. It is unfortunately way too common that those who are no longer attending church get overlooked. I hope you will find some friends here.

I don't know how big of a problem the forum has with use of VPN's at the moment. It would seem that if you signed up without using it, the site would recognize that you are the same person due to stored cookies. You might want to open an issue and ask for tolerance in that area.

May God bless you and your husband.

This is the first I've heard of this, and I don't find anything about it in the Rules (see Help and Rules at top-right of any page). What I do find there is we must not alter our IP in order to evade a ban, but that is a very different thing than general positive vpn use.

Sorry about your treatment from your church, though not surprised. I pray you will have the comfort and fellowship of the Holy Spirit and make new friends.

Thank you, paul (and all welcoming replies) I'll still try to remember but hope you are correct. :)

What a lovely person you are to still be thinking of others in your troubled times. I don't attend church anymore after years of working in one. I never felt important enough or respected as much by the staff as the so called spiritually gifted staff members, being a lowly admin. Its a shame because sometimes I need the support but that's all good, Gods still with us even when others aren't.

Welcome to the site. I hope your time here is edifying. I’m sorry you haven’t received the fellowship you need from your former church members. I pray the Lord meets your lack one hundredfold.

Derek Prince’s wife Lydia was homebound for a time due to a back injury (before they married). She became quite an intercessor during that period.

You may want to consider doing the same. Voice of the Martyrs has an app which makes it easy to pray along. Barnabas Fund is another worth considering. :)

Yours in His Service,

~Bella
