Every name is a potential Christian name. Apollos (and so many others) were purely pagan names, which became Christianized by the saintly lives of people carrying them.

I like Hebrew names best. But I insist on common ones that are easy to spell and pronounce. I begin with the meaning and go from there.

baptism is at 40 days, not 8. and yes, Baptism should come with the tonsure. it's part of the service.

Yep, Vladimir is another one that jumps to mind.

and many names are just linguistic changes from a saint’s name. Like Juan, Johanne, Ivan, Hans, Jean, and John.

true, but he took the name Basil when baptized. it's just that he had such a holy change to his life that his pagan name became a Christian name.

according to the books I have, what I was taught, and what I have seen, naming prayers are to be done on the 8th day, baptism on the 40th.

bishops and synods can modify or change practical things for their own flock, so obviously either can be done to be sure.

Cool thing about Hispanics is that they can name their boys Jesus. I’ve never heard of a non-Hispanic with the Name.

I never thought of it as cool, imagine having the name of God and Savior Jesus Christ

I have way too much trouble living up to the name of my Saint. I do get a lot of extra feast days though, so I can't complain
