On Monday, with the US on the verge of reaching the solemn number of 200,000 dead from Covid-19, Donald Trump appeared on Fox News where the topic of the virus was raised. Did Trump express sympathy for the heartbreaking losses caused to families across the nation from this deadly pandemic? Nope, instead he patted himself on the back for doing what he called "a phenomenal job" in handling Covid-19, giving himself an "A+."

Sorry I don't buy your line that the President doesn't have or expresses sympathy for the losses of people. For the reason that he makes a case that in his opinion he did a pretty good job with dealing with the crisis does not mean he doesn't mourn the loss of those who have succumbed to the affliction. He and his staff have said repeatedly that even one life is too many to loose. And as for him talking well of his response of his actions to the virus look the other side wants to claim he did a lousy job.....what he doesn't have a right to defend himself to bring balance and perspective?

I don't remember the actual number, but one common sense man said if you take the last known number of yearly (or monthly, if you wish) deaths before Covid, and then compare that number with the same number of months, same time of year, WITH Covid, you might have a more realistic number. 200K is the politically expedient number, and it includes MANY false positives, comorbidities and outright lies as to cause of death. I personally know of one such outright lie, and know someone who knows another, yet I know NOBODY who died of Covid, nor does anybody that I know, know someone who died of Covid.

Yeah, I'm plenty skeptical of those who make Covid a political issue instead of a practical thing. Flu kills between 12K -- 61K yearly, according to the CDC, and we've had vaccines and known how to treat it for years, and yet we freak out over this disease the dems are doing all they can to keep people afraid of. We don't need it.

Have you noticed that what was begun as a way to "flatten the curve" --not "limit the number of deaths" -- has somehow morphed into a "saving lives" narrative? That by itself should tell you something. There is too much lying going on by the panic drivers for me to believe anything they say, nevermind believe their numbers.

And those numbers indicate that the COVID death rate is higher than reported.

“Besides visualizing excess mortality as a percentage difference, we can also look at the raw death counts as shown here in this chart. The raw death counts help give us a sense of scale: for example, the US suffered more than 244,000 excess deaths between 1 March and 16 August, compared to 169,000 confirmed COVID-19 deathsduring that period – a difference of 75,000 deaths.”

This is what I can not understand about Trump. He must wise up and realise the people of America, all and I mean all need proper respect. Care and compassion are vital in the fight to destroy this nasty Virus. I will never forget how a few months ago in the middle of this pandemic he had a campaign rally with so many people, no masks and no social distancing. Most important of all for him, WHY ON EARTH SET SUCH A BAD EXAMPLE. Being President he should be A ROLE MODEL ON HOW TO BEHAVE.

Not all of us think he is setting a bad example. You said it yourself, all people deserve proper respect.

You are quite right, my only problem really is that this Virus must be defeated. Trump is good on the economy and lots of things, I think with the Virus he needs to be more caring for himself and everybody he meets. I hope he is listening to the medical experts, health and safety people etc. He needs our prayers.

Well, no, actually, the numbers I'm referring to make it less than half of what is reported. But that's ok, I don't trust those numbers either. The whole structure is shaky. There's too much politics involved for me to trust anyone's take on it. It's nonsense.
