Revelation 22:16. TLV. I, Yeshua, have sent My angel to testify these things to you for My communities. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.

How is Yeshua both the root and the offspring of David?
Romans 1:
3 concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David
according to the flesh,
Son of Man and Offspring of David.

4 and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness,
by the resurrection from the dead.
Son of God and Root of David.

The prototokos=firstborn

Colossians 1:
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning,
the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.

Look at the footnote referring you back to Isaiah 11:1

(TLV)
11 Then a shoot will come forth out of the stem of Jesse,
and a branch will bear fruit out of His roots.

When he declares "I am the Root AND the offspring of David he is identifying he is both. King Moshiach/King David. What this means is that David walked in the authority and glory of the Moshiach. He was the forerunner of Messiah. An earthly image of his kingship. Yeshua is the full expression of King David AND is his offspring at the same time. Like Father, like Son

Psalm 110:1
Psalm 110
Of David. A psalm.
The Lord says to my lord: “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”

This is part in parcel to what I mean when I say you can not separate Israel from Yeshua. They represent each other. They are 'one'.
As you cannot separate the body from the head.
18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning,
the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.

As you cannot separate the body from the head.
Yet it seems that is what the Church has been trying to do it's entire lifetime. The body is redeemed Israel, the head is Messiah. The nations will all be blessed in this union.

Genesis 18:18
seeing that Abraham will most certainly become a great and mighty nation and in him all the nations of the earth will be blessed?

Isaiah 61:9
Then their offspring will be known among the nations, their descendants among the peoples. All who see them will recognize them, for they are the seed that Adonai has blessed.

Luke 1: TLV
26 Then in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent by Adonai into a town in the Galilee named Natzeret
27 and to a virgin engaged to a man named Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Miriam.
28 And coming to her, the angel said, “Shalom, favored one! Adonai is with you.”
29 But at the message, she was perplexed and kept wondering what kind of greeting this might be.
30 The angel spoke to her, “Do not be afraid, Miriam, for you have found favor with God.
31 Behold, you will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and you shall call His name Yeshua.
32 He will be great and will be called Ben-Elyon. Adonai Elohim will give Him the throne of David, His father.
33 He shall reign over the house of Jacob for all eternity, and His kingdom will be without end.
