Today I want to request prayer involving the need for victory over an addiction to lust. I have taken an online purity course and the lesson I am currently on has you write out your plan involving battle strategies to win victory. Please pray that God would reveal to me and give me wisdom about all the battle strategies He would like me to create and follow. Some of these battle strategies involve praying for a few minutes in the break room after clocking out of work, spending time in prayer before getting in bed, and more. I have considered battle strategies but am also struggling with faithfulness in implementing these strategies. For example if I feel tired in the evening, I may decide to lay down and rest my eyes which could make me vulnerable to failure. So I am trying to come up with more battle strategies to reduce resting, or limit resting my eyes to when I am sitting on a chair in the backyard.

Another idea I have had is taking communion after finishing supper, but even though I have thought about this in recent times, a lot of times after supper I have not actually taken communion.

Also I hope the way this request is posted does not come across as inconsiderate. From sharing this request people will realize I have a job to go to and I know that a lot of people are out of work. I want to be in prayer for the current situation going on too and not only my personal victory.

Since you ask... honestly it seems like a works based approach, rather than a plan to let go and turn it over to the Lord. Prayer is always good, but the tricky part is doing it with surrender.

We are told that without Messiah we can do nothing. We are told that the Lord fights our battles for us. That we are to be still and see His salvation. Messiah was asked "What are the works we should do?" He replied that they needed to believe in the One the Father sent. Just believe. Believe that when you ask for help you will get it.

But there is one kind of work that seems to lead to wonderful progress spiritually and it is Biblical.
Fasting. If you are very healthy a once weekly 24 hour water only fast, with prayer and praise, may be just what you need.
If you aren't healthy then it can be too stressful for the adrenals.

Many people have found some help in the book Every Man's Battle.

I pray you will get totally free. Good for you that you want to be!

Your strategies may work. There is a better way. You need to know that sin no longer has any hold on you. When you accepted Christ, God included you in Christ's death on the cross. Therefore you died. When sin comes along, you can resist on the basis that you died to it. Who prosecutes a dead man? Who can get him to work? Who can make him do anything, even to sin? Romans 6 lays this out clearly.

Reading and even memorising the Word is not enough. It has to be revelation in our hearts. Once we see the truth, that we are dead to sin, then we can stand on God's word. We should reckon ourselves dead. "Reckon" is an accounting term. Mathematics is the only realm of man that is entirely accurate. 2 + 2 =4 in any place in the universe and is an unchangeable constant. God is saying to us that the truth is that we are dead to sin. Stand on the truth, especially when temptation comes (as it will).

The positive side is to make yourself fully at God's disposal. Accept the Lordship of Jesus and make Him responsible for your Christian life. You already have the victory. You just don't realise it yet.
