What else should we call it when the population is forced to stay home and not go anyway or they'll be arrested? The Constitution would have to be suspended in order to allow the government to suspend our right to even leave home, unless of course, they gave themselves the ability to ignore the Constitution without consequence.
You cant legally leave home? I can. Pretty sure "the population" can too.

I was referring to what happened in China, and then Italy, and is on the verge of happening here if the government decides to take things any further.
However, there's the "containment zone" that's already in place in NY:

"It's a mixture of boredom and anxiety," said Eli Epstein, 66. "We're cut off from our lives, our friends, our extended families. We're stuck at home."

Seriously, if they start doing that here, if I come down with something that doesn't make me sick enough to require hospitalization I'm not going to say anything and just stay in my house.

That's probably for the best. It's also what they'll want you to do even if you're not sick.

People in the containment zone of New Rochelle can leave their homes and move around. They just can't attend large gatherings. No one is being arrested. If there is a large cluster of an outbreak it's just common sense to shut things down and ask people to stay at home to stop the spread. It's not like something like this has never ever happened before in the US. The same sort of thing was implemented on well people when polio outbreaks occurred in the past. Sometimes people have to put up with things for the good of the community's health so the vulnerable won't die. I've read in the case of polio quarantines police could enter anyone's home at any time to see if people were abiding by the rules of quarantine and people could be forcibly removed to be taken to the hospital.

Does this mean you've studied the long legal history of quarantine and isolation orders and their validity under the US Constitution?

(speaking of Rush) It's easy to be cynical and skeptical when you're ignorant, have zero responsibility, external pressure or incentive to get things accurate.

And make Millions doing just that. Why ruin a good thing? It has worked for Rush for 30+ years.

...for all the good it'll do him when he's lying in a hospital bed coughing up blood.

Luke 16:19-25 anybody?

The funny thing about those that have made it their life’s ambition to make money off of other people’s stupidity or gullibility is that they want to make money up to the moment of death.

Let us assume for the moment that the conspiracy theory is even remotely true...

Not only would it be the ultimate in government tyranny, but they were able to do it without taking away your guns.

Clever, eh?

I dont like any of this, your right. This is all wrong, and no one is complaining about it which makes wrong pile on wrong.

It's really starting to freak me out that no one seems to care just how wrong this all is.

It's like entering the twilight zone....

The challenge for us as Christians, I think, is to not overreact to the overreactions of those on either "the Sky is Falling Left" or "the It Ain't Nuth'n Right." If the Bible is correct, and we think it is, then the World and its funky politics, virus or no virus, will be more or less what we've been told it will be.

Here are mortality stats by age group from

Coronavirus Age, Sex, Demographics (COVID-19) - Worldometer

Based on:

A paper by the Chinese CCDC released on Feb. 17, which is based on 72,314 confirmed, suspected, and asymptomatic cases of COVID-19 in China as of Feb. 11, and was published in the Chinese Journal of Epidemiology

COVID-19 Fatality Rate by AGE:
*Death Rate = (number of deaths / number of cases) = probability of dying if infected by the virus (%). This probability differs depending on the age group.

80+ years old 14.8%
70-79 years old 8.0%
60-69 years old 3.6%
50-59 years old 1.3%
40-49 years old 0.4%
30-39 years old 0.2%
20-29 years old 0.2%
10-19 years old 0.2%
0-9 years old no fatalities

In Italy the number of ICU cases was even higher, possibly due to the older population:

Critical Care and the COVID-19 Outbreak in Italy: Early Experience and Forecast

The proportion of ICU admissions represents 12% of the total positive cases, and 16% of all hospitalized patients. This rate is higher than what was reported from China, where only 5% of patients who tested positive for COVID-19 required ICU admission.

So, let me get this straight: Covid-19 is basically a Baby-boomer buster.

Denial of death tends to run strong in people in general. And we can't overlook that some people just get perverse pleasure from the power and attention that come with fame.

Rush Limbaugh also was apoplectic about officials and the media urging people to prepare for Hurricane Irma, trivializing it as being nothing more than a bit of rain. He fueled a conspiracy theory that it was a hoax perpetrated by the liberal media to hype a climate change agenda and spur the sale of bottled water. He ridiculed basic efforts for provisions as caving into fear and anxiety. For days he was implored to stop because he was putting lives at risks by telling them to ignore warnings to evacuate.

And then...............Rush Limbaugh evacuated his home in Palm Springs because of Hurricane Irma.

Like I said elsewhere, I don't think even the most hardcore constitutional constructionist in federal courts is going to have much sympathy with that argument right now.

Given the age makeup of the courts and supreme court I suspect they might take their time in reaching judgement, whilst refusing to give an injunction.

Like we could ever truly and fully be prepared for "IT"? What if it were Ebola rather than 'simply' Covid-19?

Moreover, beyond these questions, I think you missed the context of what I was saying to @Hazelelponi.

And as for Rush Limbaugh, I've never been a fan. So what might that tell you?
