• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Feeling a lot better today, yesterday as well, so hopefully i get a few more days yet.

The kids are coming up between Church services, we are going to let them make their own lunch and then we will be playing games with them. All 11 of them, the three youngest wont join in.

Then at night we have everybody up for dinner. i will have to cook chicken for 25 people. That will be the last time in who knows how long before we be together again as a full family. It has been fun to see everybody, especially the grand kids.

Wishing everyone a blessed week.

Glad you're feeling better Gerry, though cooking for 25 people will be an exhausting task, though you get to enjoy great company. I hope you have a wonderful time!

I'm having one of those days where my brain refuses to work so I'm operating on autopilot and just take things easy. I'm going to make an easy dinner for myself tonight.........Toasted cheese & tomato sandwiches which are delicious and have some salad with that.

God bless everyone here, even though you struggle, may God fill your hearts!

I had cheese toasties this evening and they are certainly a very easy and convenient meal to make if depression is getting you down. A little bit of comfort food now and then does help deal with the rough days. I hope you have had a pleasant meal and your brain is feeling more co-operative soon. :)

I have a doc appt to discuss my current experiences with my antidepressant and for months I've wanted to address it, now I'm worried whether or not I'll make it worse by changing or adjusting anything.

Yes that is the risk you run going of your current medicine. However if new medicine doesn't cut it then you can go back on these ones again. This would mean a troubled time trying the new medicine but relief when you go back on the old ones again.

What have you got to loose? You might do better rather than worse.

I've heard that if you try to go back to the AD after having quit it, it doesn't work as effectively. I hope that isn't true all the time.

i doubt if that is true. i know this isn't an AD but i have gone on and off my anti-psychotic countless times and each time i start again i can feel the familiar feelings this medication brings me. No difference at all.

well the doc and I came to a tentative agreement that I can go to Cymbalta. I will be taking Wellbutrin and Cymbalta at the same time, for about a week, then taper off the Wellbutrin. I don't think Wellbutrin is right for me, but I'm scared of gaining weight if I leave it. I hear that people on Cymbalta tend to lose weight though because they lose their appetite, so who knows. I'm very scared. Something tells me I'm going to end up procrastinating this until I "have" to take Cymbalta (when the Wellbutrin comes close to running out).

That is great, lets pray and hope it will work and that your fears proof to be ungrounded. Yes we often fear action because it brings negativity, but the truth is it is going to happen procrastinating or not.

Have you got a lot of Wellbutrin left?

I'm NOT coping and feel like crying & screaming. I hate how ignorant people are to my struggles, I hate how ignorant people are period! Terrible thoughts going through my head and I'm tempted to utter terrible things to people, that I have to hang on tight to Jesus so I can ride the storm out. I just feel overwhelmed by everything because my brain isn't functioning and I'm not able to deal with anything.

That is terrible Victor. Bring all the crap you been getting to Jesus to take care of brother. i know how hard that can be but He works for our benefit when we do. He brings us forgiving love and a kind and gentle spirit. Perspective about our battle and a Refuge against the storms.

Praying you lay you hurt into His hands.

It's hard dealing with people that don't have the spirit of Christ, who have a mind & spirit of the world, there is NO love in such people and ignorance & selfishness prevails in their hearts. The only love and support I get are from my Christian friends. You can see Christ working in those he has called.

It's ok to not cope. You're not letting anyone down by being honest and trying to take care of yourself. It's ok to cry when you feel hurt. :)

*big hug*

I quit watching television several years ago. I haven't looked back. Having all the negativity, toxicity and drama beamed directly in to the home is a recipe for depression. It took about a month before I noticed how big the effect was.

The internet is almost as bad, but there is a greater degree of choice over what you read and watch. So it's more mixed. You get really great stuff and really aweful stuff at the same time.

You may want to think on whether to quit TV or reduce your internet usage so your not exposed to so much toxicity. I have found that can make a dramatic difference if only because it gives you more space to think and feel.

It won't solve it but it can alleviate the symptoms. Sometimes that's enough. Just a thought. ;)
