A Hollywood executive wanted Julia Roberts to play Harriet Tubman in a biopic
A Hollywood studio executive once suggested that Julia Roberts should play iconic African-American activist Harriet Tubman in a biopic.

In a recent Q&A, screenwriter Gregory Allen Howard opened up about the 26-year journey to getting the "Harriet" biopic to the big screen.

At the time the effort started, he said, Hollywood was not the same.

"I wanted to turn Harriet Tubman's life, which I'd studied in college, into an action-adventure movie. The climate in Hollywood, however, was very different back then," Howard said. "I was told how one studio head said in a meeting, 'This script is fantastic. Let's get Julia Roberts to play Harriet Tubman.'"

What I want to see is Michael Cera as Shaft.

Merlin is not a real person.
Todays trend is to put black actors to traditionally white roles. Some people even complain that there are no blacks in PC games situated into medieval Europe.

So why not to do it in the opposite direction too?

This guy is 26. When did he start shopping this script around? I'd be surprised if this really happened.

It feels like the sort of thing one says to get more publicity. I "once heard" that "someone said this"...doesn't actually implicate anyone.

Pfft. If it doesn't have Johnny Depp with a bird on his head pretending to be Native American, I'm not interested.

And also if it has Johnny Depp with a bird on his head pretending to be a Native American, I'm not interested.

Don't forget, many of those apparently white people in those games might have actually self-identified as black.

Hollywood makes movies and pushes agendas. Their own personal agendas, which they invent. Beware of this. They want to tell you to believe what they believe, to worry about situations they worry about or claim to be worried about. The very, very recent push for "diversity" is invented. It is not based on good principles but was created. All people should be treated fairly. All people.

And fictional characters like Merlin embody ideas Hollywood wants you to think about. I have little trust in Hollywood and TV. TV was once 'a welcomed guest in our homes,' but now, it no longer is. Christians should politely complain about how bad the media has gotten.

As some would say...that's a fictional character.

I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this, but Johnny Depp is actually very, very real. That really happened.

Lol the character he played....while "The Lone Ranger" was based on a real person, he's entirely fictional as is his Johnny Depp sidekick.

Well, there’s an idea of Johnny Depp, some kind of abstraction...

It has always gone in the opposite direction - Claudette Colbert and Elizabeth Taylor as Cleopatra, Orson B. Wells as Othello, unnamed extras as Indians in Westerns, Keith Carradine as Kwai Chang Caine,Warner Oland as Charlie Chan, Yul Brynner and Rex Harrison as King Mongkut of Siam. That list goes on and on.

So its normal. And its on us if we will watch it or not.

As somebody said, facebook has 48 sexual identities. But its on me if I will use facebook or not.
