In my youth, I used to hold to Premillennialism and was quite passionate about it. Now hold to what I suppose you could call it Amillennialism (that is, a rejection of Millennialism). These would be the top 3 reasons as to why:
1. Scripturally - Christ is seated at the right hand of the Father; He is Lord of all and reigns now. Satan was defeated at the cross by the person and works of Jesus Christ, and the Gospel is made known throughout the world. This constitutes His kingdom, and so we are a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and this is apprehended through faith in God and in His grace.
2. Historically - Though there were Chiliasts in the early Church, Millenial teachings in our day are different from those ideas; Millennialism that is popular in our day is unhistorical, of questionable origin and have a clear history of development. The teachings are marked by poor, confused and arbitrary exegesis.
3. Practically - Millennialism clashes with the Gospel. It mixes ancient Jewish messianic expectations with modern revelation and ideas, which is contrary to the words of our Lord. Millenial doctrines shape the whole theological system which ultimately distracts from the Gospel and creates different expectations and different missions.
Hi I note your 1st point and want you to consider what psalm 110 says in light of your idea of Jesus at the right hand of the father.
1 The LORD said to my Lord,
“Sit at My right hand,
Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”
2 The LORD shall send the rod of Your strength out of Zion.
Rule in the midst of Your enemies!
3 Your people
shall be volunteers
In the day of Your power;
In the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning,
You have the dew of Your youth.
4 The LORD has sworn
And will not relent,
“You
are a priest forever
According to the order of Melchizedek.”
5 The Lord
is at Your right hand;
He shall execute kings in the day of His wrath.
6 He shall judge among the nations,
He shall fill
the places with dead bodies,
He shall execute the heads of many countries.
7 He shall drink of the brook by the wayside;
Therefore He shall lift up the head.
In this psalm the LORD said to David's Lord sit at my right hand until....until what? I make your enemies your footstool. This transition is tied to the judgment of nations and the dead bodies filling up is what is described when the kingdom comes. Psalm 2 clarifies this.
1 Why do the nations rage,
And the people plot a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves,
And the rulers take counsel together,
Against the LORD and against His Anointed,
saying,
3 “Let us break Their bonds in pieces
And cast away Their cords from us.”
4 He who sits in the heavens shall laugh;
The Lord shall hold them in derision.
5 Then He shall speak to them in His wrath,
And distress them in His deep displeasure:
6 “Yet I have set My King
On My holy hill of Zion.”
7 “I will declare the decree:
The LORD has said to Me,
‘You
are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.
8 Ask of Me, and I will give
You
The nations
for Your inheritance,
And the ends of the earth
for Your possession.
9 You shall break[fn] them with a rod of iron;
You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’ ”
10 Now therefore, be wise, O kings;
Be instructed, you judges of the earth.
11 Serve the LORD with fear,
And rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son,[fn] lest He[fn] be angry,
And you perish
in the way,
When His wrath is kindled but a little.
Blessed
are all those who put their trust in Him.
you see in psalm 110 speaks of the same day that the son takes the nations as his inheritance. This is future and jesus is not reigning now over the nations. Imagine the abortion rate and the rampant genocide as well as the gay and trans sexual revolution happening when Jesus rules with a rod of iron? it is crazy to consider current conditions with Jesus as the head. It is perfectly aligned with Satanic philosophy and that is evidence Satan is not yet bound and the kingdom is still to come.
