My dream abode would definitely include an enclosed terrace or solarium. I can just imagine waking up, fixin' some pumpkin coffee and enjoying the morning while being surrounded by a dense array of trees.@Anthony7
I love the large windows and enclosed terrace! That’s perfect for morning coffee and evening talks. I think there’s a place for sustainable practices in modern buildings. Especially the sort with cathedral ceilings and spacious interiors that can be a beast to heat and cool.
Consider the qualities you’ve noted:
They are also sound resistant, insect resistant, fire resistant, mold resistant
Sound is perfect for noise reduction and music enjoyment. Insect resistance diminishes the harmful effects of termites and similar troublemakers. And mold resistance is a definite plus.
I immediately thought of a solarium or similar space for greenery indoors that’s ideal for meditation or quiet time with the Lord.
Fire resistance is beneficial and could inspire a hearth and fireplaces throughout the home. They evoke a better sense of ambiance and bonding. And there’s s’mores and chestnuts of course.

That's a good point. I do see the movement as being Paganism in disguise, and an excuse for increased regulation. However, it doesn't mean sustainable architecture can't be approached from a Christian perspective. God did entrust us with the earth (Psalm 8:6), and taking care of it in a Biblical way does bring Him glory, including through green practices. =)You needn’t adopt the social philosophy to benefit from the developments. I don’t agree with everything either. But I believe sustainable practices are beneficial for their adherents and the environment. I include food and green living in that statement.
If you find a sustainable country home don’t hesitate to share!

Those are such lovely houses and would be cool to live in! I especially like the second photo - that sky!Ah, I see what you mean. Living off the grid in a self-sustaining way would be a positive and freeing experience - a retreat from the world, so to speak. I would highly be open to such as prospect myself.
In terms of my ideal home, I've yet to decide what exactly it would look like. My focus has been on what it would feel like inside - perhaps invoking mystery, sleekness and wonder, yet also feeling cozy at the same time. There would be a plenitude of bold, natural materials used throughout, with abundant natural lighting and large windows looking out into the country. It would also feature plays of lighting, material, verticality and form, challenging convention, with rooms that are both inside and outside. Ample vegetation is a must. For the exterior, maybe the design could draw from both rustic and modern elements, with hints of minimalism.

Does anyone else know what their ideal home would look like, if there were no limitations on what would be possible?
Those are great ideas. Those are such lovely houses and would be cool to live in! I especially like the second photo - that sky!
I'm not sure what my ideal house would be like except that it would need to have space for all my collections and creations, lol. I would also love to have a nice sewing/crafting room and lots of purple/lavender in the house!
Oh my gosh, look at all that pretty purple! And that last photo - so...many...Pokemon plushies! Those are great ideas.
Multi's house would definitely need lots of purple, and tons of room for her epic creations.

I love those grass steps as well. No bunker home should be with out them. I also like the one that's tucked away in a hill (in that 3rd pic from the bottom), and the one inside a cave - kinda reminds me of the lair of an evil bond villain.Swoons...
Where do I begin??
The white table!!! Is that concrete? Its gorgeous! I’m torn between work and sliding (on skates of course!).
That would probably land me on a bloops and blunders meme. But the idea makes sense. So I’m all-in!
The grass-lined steps are fab! And the media room is perfect. Lots of room to stretch out and great visibility.
Couches are made for cuddling. You chose the perfect ones!
I like how they integrated nature in the design scheme. The cave is really nice. If you stumble, it’s lights out or a sore noggin’.
The second from the last reminds me of a putting green! Miniature golf would be seriously cool.
Spots the grill and wonders if Mr. A. works his magic there as well.
Holy toledo! That’s 12 stories down. Its like the Jetsons on steroids!
You’ve outdone yourself this time.
