Those in the Church of the Firstborn are gods and goddesses, so I'm wondering if they still have agency.

The Lord said that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob did what they were commanded, and because they "did none other things than that which they were commanded, they have entered into their exaltation, according to the promises, and sit upon thrones, and are not angels but are gods." (D&C 132:37.)

That explains part of the rub anyway.

Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. (Luke 20:36)

This is a bit of a leap of logic.

You're presuming that these individuals in question didn't have the opportunity to choose another option.

Wow! I didn't remember that verse. Which translation is it?

The KJV I think ... I usually copy paste from the old electronic bible I use.

Yepp, just confirmed it, KJ.

When Mormons speak of 'agency,' they mean 'free will.' I don't know what or if the LDS church teaches an answer to this.

Of course we teach about free will, or free agency. You must have got many lessons as a Mormon on this subject.

Our free agency or our free will would be in the top 5 discussions of importance in the church, but you know that. It is one of the central doctrines that we teach. If you do not have the right to choose, you are nothing more than a puppet, and puppets in the long run are worthless to God and his kingdom.

That is why I continually try to teach you that individuals make important decisions if they are going to believe or keep the commandments, or continue with faith, or endure to the end. These are all decisions that we must make, God cannot make those decisions for us or we would be simple puppets in his hands.

Mormons become puppets or they get banished from the temple and the Church of the Firstborn.

Good try. Of course we would be banished from the kingdom of God if we do not do what the King wants us to do. You will too.

The difference with being a puppet and obeying the King is this:

First obedience: The King tells you what it is going to take to be happy and live with him forever, and we either believe it and obey his word, or we don't. Those that listen and obey, receive a wonderful eternal life. Those that don't will not receive of the fullness of what God has to offer. It is called free agency.

Then there is the puppett: The King ties a string to you and makes you do what he wants you to do, and those strings are tied to you for eternity. No free choice or agency. He does this by His good pleasure. The downside to puppetry is that if God does not have pleasure in you to be with Him for eternity, He dances you another way that will provide for another afterlife, but not with him. You have no say in the matter.

It's called loving the Savior, not any kind of agency. The new birth is real and creates someone who loves Him forever!

Then there is the puppett: The King ties a string to you and makes you do what he wants you to do, and those strings are tied to you for eternity. No free choice or agency. So, so wrong, and very much Mormonism's (J. Smith's) prejudice and lies. He was an arrogant narcissist:

God made Aaron to be the mouth piece for the children of Israel, and He will make me be god to you in His stead, and the Elders to be mouth for me; and if you don't like it, you must lump it.
Joseph Smith, History of the Church, vol. 6, pp. 319-320.

God is in the still small voice. In all these affidavits, indictments, it is all of the devil—all corruption. Come on! ye prosecutors! ye false swearers! All hell, boil over! Ye burning mountains, roll down your lava! for I will come out on the top at last. I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter- day Saints never ran away from me yet.
Joseph Smith, History of the Church, vol. 6, pp. 408-9.
