Hello All,

I do apologise if this has already been covered. I did have a quick look and didn’t see it mentioned I’m sorry if I missed it. I’ve been busy lately I will soon be married and obviously it has taken up a lot of my time. I’ve not been keeping an eye on politics and the news.

My question is primarily for the American users here. Why did so many people when referring to the attacks in Sri Lanka cite “Easter Worship” rather than call it an attack on Christians. Many of the same people were quick to call the Christchurch shooting an attack on Muslims, “the Muslim Community” or Islam.

Are things really so bad on the American left that the mere mention of Christianity is frowned upon?

I’d end by saying I do not use Twitter but a few articles I’ve read have made mention of tweets from Obama and Clinton et al. These people no longer aspire to office so why not call a spade a spade?

Jesus said it would get so bad, they would put Christians to death and actually believe they were doing God a favor. (John 16:2) Paul was like this before he met God in Christ Jesus.

I realise that some people are sceptic about my comments concerning the apparent victim complex of some christians. I must admit I can't read minds, but in my time here I have seen a pattern of christians being liable to call themselves the most oppressed people in the world, their plight ignored and their influence on society denied, all while being the biggest faith group in the world in general and in the USA specifically.

It's also generally presented as a sign that the end times are right around the corner.

I think it's unreasonable to construct persecution out of victims being addressed by the wrong name. The entire world stands behind the christians of sri lanka, including many non-christians, so I guess one has to get creative to be the pariah.

Statistically it is certainly true that Christians are the most oppressed people in the world.

I could have missed it, but I didn't see anyone in this thread say the weird naming itself was persecution. We're complaining about it for other reasons, as have been stated.

I'd never accuse you of lacking creativity. I'm sure you're up to the challenge.

That’s my point. Who else prays at a mosque other than Muslims?

Don't overestimate the intelligence of the American public. I'm sure alot of newscasters think they are being helpful in elucidating that fact.

Easter is supposedly the holiest of Christian days, celebrating the Resurrection of Christ. "Easter worship" is by definition Christian, so, I suppose, it was considered redundant to spell it out in America.

The Christchurch shooting fell on a Friday, but not a special one to distinguish it as a massacre of Muslims. If it had been, say, an Eide shooting, it still would have to have been explained here because very few Americans have any clue what Eide is or who would be worshiping - unlike Easter which just about everyone here knows.

I talked with an egyptian guy a while ago. He had no idea what easter was about, thought it was a generic celebration of spring.

Alot of it depends on the background of newscasters.

Pastor was commenting on how French firefighters talked about rescuing the "Body of Christ" in the tabernacle at Notre Damme and how many newscasters thought they were talking about a statue and not the reserved Sacrament.

I don’t think they pander to muslims but rather the left-wing activists who hold Islam to be an oppressed force for good in the world.
There might be some middle ground between an oppressed force for good in the world and unmitigated evil that needs to be exterminated.

An Egyptian guy, not an American guy? That there could be the difference.

It's the web front for the Associated Press. It is the same story on apnews.com as it is in any of it's other locations.
It says the traffic ranking of apnews globally is 2,371. That's nothing in comparison to the views that will be had of tweets by Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

In any case, Easter will not be celebrated by Christians in Egypt until this coming Sunday.

I’m not replying to you specificity here but I’m not outraged. I was curious as the tweets seemed strange even if they were virtue signalling to the intersectional crowd. I thought perhaps I was missing something and wanted an American perspective.

Instead I’m portrayed as being an outraged, right-wing, Fox News watching Trump supporter. People seem to have misjudged me quite a bit sadly.

This is why:

If you don't want to be confused with Trump supporting FoxNews watchers, maybe don't impersonate them. For instance implying that the left cannot be Christian.

It is the associated press. Their content is seen by half the planet.
