A federal judge on Friday ruled in favor of CNN and reporter Jim Acosta in a dispute with President Trump, ordering the White House to temporarily restore the press credentials that the Trump administration had taken away from Acosta last week.

In a victory for the cable network and for press access generally, Judge Timothy J. Kelly granted CNN’s motion for a temporary restraining order that will prevent the administration from keeping Acosta off White House grounds.

Oh, to be a fly on the Oval Office wall when Donald got the news...

Thoughts?

Is a declaration of Martial Law and the suspension of Congress and the Courts now in the works?

Nah, just a series of whining tweets..

I don’t know all the rules, but I don’t see how a judge can tell the White House who to let in. I mean it wasn’t like CNN as an organization was banned.
Anyway, Trump can just not acknowledge Acosta I guess. Just seems like a measuring contest to me.

Much as it may infuriate Donald, he does not own the White House. It's public property and so long as they allow credentialed reporters, they don't get to pick and choose.

Indeed. And we all know how small and pretty Donald is capable of being.

Wow, so now apparently the white house has no control who can be there and who can't no matter what they do or how they behave. That's just great. Hopefully the judge will take a full look at things and let the white house do what needs to be done and enforce some rules.

The White House is public property...but press events aren't an obligation. He may not be able to keep Acosta from the property...but I don't see how he'd be obligated to acknowledge him or even respond to the press. Seems a bit pointless.

So's law.

The White House has control, but being a government building and not Donald's private palace, it is bound by the Constitution.

Well, that much is certainly within his powers as a government official. He can simply choose not to have any more press conferences, or choose not to answer questions from Acosta. Both of these are legal; what he actually did is not.

This would be in line with his predecessor's response to Fox News -- Obama certainly made it clear that he was no fan of them, and didn't call upon them as often as he did the more cordial stations, but he never barred FoxNews from the WH, AFAIK.

Acosta getting his press pass back doesn't mean he has to be let into the press room there are hundreds of reporters they can choose to let in before him, seating is restricted to 49 bodies. They can also set up a set of rules and regulations to keep him out. Either way Acosta made a fool of himself and suffered the consequences. Maybe the next Democrat President will allow him access if he promises to ask puffball questions.

Indeed -- Donald's people can pack the press room solely with journalists friendly to him from publications with no history of questioning his actions.

I look forward to White House briefings covered by Knitting Quarterly, Fly-Fisherman's Monthly, and StampCollectors.com -- at least until they fail to toe the line.

They can also set up a set of rules and regulations to keep him out.

A loyalty oath, perhaps? It works at his rallies.

Either way Acosta made a fool of himself and suffered the consequences. Maybe the next Democrat President will allow him access if he promises to ask puffball questions.

Maybe the current Republican President will if he does, as well.... perhaps Hannity can give pointers?
