It doesn't have to, no. But it has abundant depth for those who need that.
Life itself might be complicated. I don't think the Lord wanted the rules to be complicated. There are just two of them - love the Lord with all our hearts, minds, and souls, and love our neighbors as ourselves.

When we sin, we experience the painful consequences of our sin. That does not seem like heaven.

I don't know how lost you were before you were saved. But I was as lost as it gets, and even being chastised by God seems like heaven in comparison to what it was like before I knew God.

We dont lose our humanity even though we are no longer slaves to sin. We will mess up sometimes.. Even the prophets and apostles were faulty at times..

We live, we learn, we apply scripture to our lives and work on our faults and get on with it..and every second since I was saved has seemed like heaven to me, even when I was crying, in comparison.

Yet even so, it's NOTHING in comparison to what it WILL be once we make it home!

Perhaps it's not been a time full of joy for you since you were saved? Yet even with that, perhaps imagine how bad it could have been without HIS Hand upon you!

Life goes on after we are saved. There is more to learn.

Sorry - I mistyped the title. It should have read: Simple or Complicated.

It seems to me that the gospel is a very simple thing:

From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matt 4:17 RSV

What I think happens is that people are reluctant to repent of their sin, so they look for an easier way, and in so doing, make the gospel much more complicated. What do you think?
The Gospel is simple, but is made complicated by the doctrines of men and various additions. For example: you said that Jesus stated "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Then you go on to add "What I think happens is that people are reluctant to repent of their sin"

So now instead of just repenting......I have to considering repenting of sins, a phrase I dont recall seeing in the bible. So now I need to find out which sins to repent from. I need to learn what mortal and venial sins are. Then I have to reconcile why someone Christians say we cant stop sinning while you say I need to repent from them to see the kingdom. I also need to understand how this is not gaining salvation through my own works and actions etc....

All this because of added words.... The simple made complicated, shown with the very post meant to oppose it.
