Will you still go to hell if you're saved and commit suicide?
If a person truly believes the gospel message and trusts Jesus as their Savior I don't believe they would go to hell if they committed suicide because suicide is not the unpardonable sin of rejecting the conviction of the Holy Spirit concerning Jesus Christ as the Savior. Nevertheless, taking one's life, which actually belongs to God, does show a lack of hope and faith in the goodness and ability of Jesus to save in all life situations. Satan is the liar and murderer who wants to deceive and steal life when one takes their eyes off Jesus in the difficult circumstances.

You cannot ask for forgiveness, you said, does the scripture not say that all our sin has been atoned for by Jesus on the cross. Isa 1:18 “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool. That does not mean a license to sin, but does give us peace of mind that though we may transgress we do not loose our place in the body of Christ. 1John2:1-2 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.

indeed, it is forgivable.
“I promise you that any of the sinful things you say or do can be forgiven, no matter how terrible those things are. But if you speak against the Holy Spirit, you can never be forgiven. That sin will be held against you forever.” — Mark 3:28-29

And once one sins do they still have the Son of Light in them? No, they don't. Please don't confuse God's mercy and forgiveness with our sin as never being lost once we sin after being saved. And because we are still dying we do not he have eternal life. Only when we eat from the Tree of Life will we have it. And that will not happen until we enter into the City of God according to Revelation.
Then why did Jesus give us the model prayer? Matt 6:9-13 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. 13 And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
Does that mean King David did not go to heaven and the Kingdom God promised him through his line was made void? Jesus was traced back to David wasn't he?

And why you posted the unpardonable sin to support your view overlooks the first part where it states forgive for sin. That is the only one that is unpardonable and a Christian can never be that person. Read the context where you quote and see if that was not those who created the miracle that Jesus performed was of the devil. Context is always the key. Heb10:14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. Sanctified has several uses, to be set aside, to be made holy, same root as sanctification, which is a growing process of becoming more holy in our walk, not to be confused with being set apart for the body of Christ at conversion, that is a one time event and cannot be broken, Phil 1:6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. Ps 37:23-24 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. 24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand. This shows who is holding on to who, which does not negate the teaching that we are not to yield to the flesh, but be being transformed into the image of our dear Savior.

Not really the place to debate theology... Jesus was speaking to the Jews who insisted upon keeping the law.... after His resurrection it is "once for all" repentance as Jesus had to only die "once for all" ....

I agreed with the post that shares how committing suicide is not the unpardonable sin.. rejecting Christ is. Many prophets in the Bible, and Paul himself, were depressed and wished to die... God can bring us through the darkest of times.... there's hope for change.

No one will have an answer for this. It will all be speculation. That being said.. we all get sick in some way or another. Well the mind can get sick also. But.. to just out of the blue think.. I want to just die and go to heaven. <------WOULD NOT want to test that.

Again.. the mind can get sick... we forget that. And the Father knows this :)

Will you still go to hell if you're saved and commit suicide?

The fundamental difficulty that frequently happens when trying to talk about suicide in this way is that it gets bogged down and we can forget the basic humanity and the crisis of humanity that is present in tragedy. There's no perpetrator in suicide, there are only victims. We would naturally, of course, never ask the question, "Will you go to hell if you are brutally murdered in the street?" Because the innate cruelty of the question ought to make us pause and feel remorse for the mere thought--suicide is no different, in it there is a terrible, horrifying, and tragic loss of life, a human being who was suffering immense pain in this life and takes their own life. People who commit suicide are people who have been enduring a great amount of suffering, often emotional and mental suffering; and the right response of God's people here is compassion. And to be immensely present for those who are suffering, and to seek to find them the help they need; and those who have tragically taken their own lives we shouldn't condemn, but rather grieve and pray--and trust in the God who is the God of hope, the God of salvation, the God of new life.

Further, we need to stop thinking in terms of a language that presupposes that God's default disposition toward human beings is to damn them to hell; in Christ we see the God who throws Himself away in love, He throws Himself away in suffering, death, to be nailed to a cross--in order to rescue, heal, and restore us to Himself. That's who God is, He's the God of salvation.

I'll be blunt. No, if one commits suicide then they only see hell.

Some will mention "But God forgives!". How do you pray for forgiveness after you just shot yourself? In order to be forgiven you have to pray for it. You may say "So you pray before tyou do it then!". Well that brings up other issues. For starters praying for forgivness as if its an insurance plan before you kill yourself means God will not forgive you. He sees your heart. If you were sorry, you wouldn't kill yourself to begin with as it is a sin. God says murder is a sin and so is not taking care of your temple (body).

Now we get to the biggest problem...... it would mean there is a loophole in the bible. Since we know this world is a bad world full of pain and suffering, why don't christians just kill themselves as soon as they are saved? I mean why suffer for decades when you have a free pass to heaven by freeing yourself of life? See how nonsensical that sounds.

God wants us to finish the race. Its talked about all over the bible. We are to go until we, for lack of better words, drop dead. Not by our own hands mind you. Teaching suicide still means heaven is one of the top two things I can't stand. Its false teaching and means SOOO many people are in hell now because of people who fed them lies. And these people will answer to God for that.

I say this as someone who was suicidal for years. People would tell me not to do it because <insert reasons> but then also reassure me if I did, I'd see heaven. So messed up.

Will you still go to hell if you're saved and commit suicide?
There are stories all over YT of people who committed suicide, had a near death experience, were revived and deeply, deeply regretted what they had done. Suicide is a form of murder.

However the real question to me seems to be why are you asking that question? Did a loved one commit suicide? Or, are you maybe tempted in that direction? I pray that if you have lost someone to suicide threat you will get comfort and that if you feel suicidal that you will get healing.

Here's the thing about suicide that lots of people misunderstand, or like to ignore: for a lot of people, it isn't a choice, but a result of an illness (depression, bipolar disorder, etc).

The thing about depression (the mental illness I have the most personal experience with), is that it can twist your perspective. It doesn't matter how much faith you have; how much you read the Bible; how much you go to church -- it twists. It makes good things look like bad things, and everything else just looks even worse than that. It can convince you that you are a burden to your friends and family, and that suicide is really just a selfless act.

In the context of depression and other mental disorders, your illness shapes your mind into its weapon and then uses it to kill you. Instead of stopping your heart, it hijacks your brain. So it's not a choice.

(I was voluntarily admitted to a psychiatric unit this July, because I was in danger of harming myself and it's much better to spend a few days in the hospital than to be dead.).

As far as the idea that God won't forgive you because you didn't have time to pray for forgiveness before you die... I really, truly can't imagine that God is that much of a legalist, or that shortsighted. (I'm sure most of us will die with tons of sins we haven't had the chance to ask forgiveness for, due to not having realized they happened in the first place.).

There's only one unforgivable sin, and IIRC there is some serious arguing in theology over whether people can even commit it anymore. Go figure.

I've been trying really hard to get right with the Good Lord. I'm already Saved by Faith but the harder I try the more I backslide. When I claim to be 'God Fearing'....I'm dead serious about that. In the Bible God's wrath is swift and without hesitation. The more I try to live a richeous life...the more I fail. I'm dangerously afraid that one day, the Good Lord is finally going to lose all patience with me and I'm gonna lose my salvation and He's finally gonna strike me down with a lighting bolt. I try really hard to not sin but I keep struggling eveyday. The harder I try the more I screw up it seems.

If you're asking because you're depressed and thinking about committing suicide, I recommend you see a trusted clergy member or medical professional and not let people convince you that you'll be guaranteed to go to heaven if you take the easy way out and commit suicide to escape any suffering you are experiencing.

To answer your question, suicide is murder of oneself. Scripture is clear that murders will not inherit the kingdom of God. The Apostle Paul had to warn the Galatians about such sins more than once because some incorrectly misunderstood the grace of God as a license to sin (meaning they thought they'd be saved regardless of any sins they committed).

The problem with murdering oneself (suicide) is that you can't repent if you're dead so I wouldn't commit suicide. If you're asking because a friend or family member committed suicide, then whether they would go to Hell depends upon culpability. For example, if someone were given a hallucinogenic drug without their knowledge or consent, saw what they thought was someone trying to kill them and shot them in what they thought was self-defense, then that person would not be culpable (held guilty by God) for that murder because they didn't will to murder that person. With suicide, if someone is severely depressed due to a reason outside their control and weren't in control of their actions when they committed suicide then I think it's possible God would not hold them guilty of murder. However, if you're able to talk to someone, ask for help, try different medicines, etc. but chose not to or you were depressed due to factors within your control then I think God would hold you guilty of murder and you'd end up in Hell so don't do it.

You and I are in the same boat, sir.

Edit- Excuse me, I'm not married to an unbeliever. I am not in the same boat. But I have some problems which, while not similar, are also harsh.

I take it from the scriptures I won't go to Hell if I commit suicide, but it's a sin. It's a sin I can't atone for. It won't be unatoned for because Jesus atoned for me. On the other hand, if I can't atone for it myself, my degree of glory will be weakened, though not weak.

I would encourage you to get connected at church...are you part of a men's bible study group? if not see about becoming part of one...ask your minister about helping you to find a prayer partner/and or a mentor as well.

I saw where you mentioned about being married to a spouse who isn't saved...when you in that situation you really need to be connected to some
mature in the faith godly men that will support and pray for you...going it alone and not having a believing spouse that's committed to the Lord isn't easy, I know because my first marriage was to an unsaved man.

From what I understand, you don't need to really "try". Spending time in God's word and learning about him is like a tree with it's roots planted firmly in the ground and drinking the water that keeps the tree alive. As a result of this, the tree bears fruit. That's also how we bear fruit. Remember, the tree doesn't have to "try" to bear fruit. It comes naturally as a result of being firmly in the soil and taking in the water and nutrients from the ground.

Will you still go to hell if you're saved and commit suicide?

A christian can not and should not commit suicide. Although things might be difficult. Yet our hope must be in the Lord. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 told us that the weapon of our warfare are not physical and we should bring every thought to the obedient of Christ. Romans also told us what shall separate us from the love of Christ?

If a christian commit suicide, he/she will be committing murder. And we know that no murderer will see, nor enter the kingdom of God.

Is like someone that was save but decided to commit fornication/adultery and before long the person die, will he still go to heaven?

No matter what, we should not think of committing suicide. Committing suicide is a sin and no sinner will enter heaven after death.

I do attend a Church. My wife believes that 'her children come before God'. Living with a non-Christian is like....I feel like I'm voluntarily living in terrible sin. I'm periodically missing church cause she always has some excuse why she needs me at home and my patience is growing bitterly short with that too...

I absolutely understand your thinking here. I know by experience what it's like to be in an unequally-yoked marriage, and feeling like it caused me to be an assessory to debauchery, like I was agreeing with it. God helped me to see that you are only volunteering to live in sin if you are pretending to agree with it. If you have (lovingly) expressed your position and your beliefs to your wife, and your wife knows where you stand with Christ, you are not at all living in sin. You are, in fact, being the light of Christ in a dark place.

The book of Hosea in the Old Testament is a picture of God's love for His covenant people Israel who were unfaithful to Him and broke the covenant they made with Him. And there are many other places in Scripture that show God's desire for his people, Israel to be faithful to their covenant. His keeping of His covenant when Israel was errant did not make Him a sinner at all.
