• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I'm worried that my salvation is too late. That I had chances to be saved yet I rebelled against God. Sometimes I even think this is my afterlife and the suffering I'm going through is my punishment.

Is there anyone here who can relate to thinking God has had enough of you. I need to know the merciful lord. I don't want to be scared anymore.

Yes, I have been there. I have thought, "How many times will I mess up before He stops forgiving me and has had enough?" But I found that the answer is, "Never". As long as we are truly sorry He is merciful to forgive.

Get closer to Him and He will get closer to you. He hasn't given up on you and your fear is proof that He is still with you and still pursuing you.

Have faith, our Father is a merciful and gracious Father. :)

I have many many times felt like I was being punished. Some of the things I have done, been a part of, or helped others do, I was absolutely positive the person who was the absolute dearest and closest to me passed away as a result of something I had done that was unrelated but was devastating for another family. I just knew this person was taken from me as a result my actions like I said until one day when I was in a support group and I finally told my story and a wise old woman who I respected said "my God doesn't work that way. He doesn't go tit for tat in people's lives like that." Something like that she said and I never believed I was being punished since then. About three guys who were God fearing people in the group had stood up and said they felt the same way about God, that he doesn't keep a score card like that. Since that time, I have never found anything in the Bible or anywhere else that says we will be punished in this life for any sin we commit or the next. Jesus took it all away especially if we repent

It will take some time for your system to readjust, but it will happen. Don't beat yourself up, just know that God is keeping you under His wings and is with you step by step.

In case it is helpful, there is no such thing as this for anyone. Remember the thief on the cross (Luke 23:41-43 and before).

Scripture sometimes makes reference to people who can't be saved, but that is because they are no longer willing to yield to God as their God. As long as you believe in Jesus, that he died for your sins, and are repentant of your sins, and living to please God, you are saved and will not turn away from him, because living in obedience as best you can makes it God's responsibility to keep you saved, and he will never fail in that effort.

I had severe OCD for five years. Let me tell you I suffered so much anxiety over losing my salvation. I still have high anxiety, but more along the lines of social anxiety.
In Matthew 21:28-31, Jesus tells a parable to the religious leaders (I think) and says it is better that a man to have first refuse to do God's will, but then does it than the one who says he will, but doesn't follow through with it. You say you're afraid that you won't be forgiven because you had been too rebellious. But that is exactly what Christ came to save you from. In John 3:16, Jesus says whoeverso believes on him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. If Jesus saved Saul, a persecutor of the Church, how much more then can you be assured that he can assure your salvation?
Keep in mind also Thomas who refused to believe Jesus had resurrected until he had seen and felt the wounds of Jesus. Of course he was forgiven.
I know it can be really hard to not latch on to a single line in the Bible and feel utterly condemned and unforgivable. I remember crying everyday wishing I had never been born because of a choice I had made and a passage I had read. But through it, I came to cherish the Gospel, and afterwards my OCD had greatly subsided (I'm not saying this will happen to you, but I barely have any compulsions now).
Prayers for you! :)
