Complex question - it really depends on the question. Recently, I was offered a job and so I took a week to ponder the outcome. I prayed and read but didn't feel any real guidance or prophetic word. All I could do was reflect on what I felt God wanted me to do and follow His peace.
Of course there are questions that are easily answered on the Bible. The simple yes/no of the ten commandments or how much should I drink on the weekend as outlined by Paul to abstain from drunkeness (Ephesians 5:18). However, if you are looking more at the Robert Frost's 2 paths in the wood kind of situation, then I would suggest looking more at how the options outlines aline with God's word and the plans God has put in your heart.
God'e will would never ask you to do something that contradicts his word or would put in you in situation that would compromise your faith. However, like my job decision, there was no clear verdict. Just a choice - will I follow one path or another. I know that both ways God will be with me. Both ways may seem easier now. Both ways are answers to prayers (without the job it looks like I may be unemployed again for a stint).
As I don't know the issue that is leading to you ask for God to show your his will (or you already feel unsure about a decision you have had), I think that you just have pray and trust God will reveal all that you need to know. Romans 8:28 states "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." I think that many times we (and I am talking about me here in particular) get so caught up in doing God's will that we forget that He has already called to be His and that His will is, first and most importantly, to be in right relationship with Him. However, we feel that to be in right relationship with Him we must be living and doing something specifically as an outward sign of our dedication which will be revealed to us in some sort of special learning process called "His Will". But all we have tor really do is establish a relationship with God through His Son Jesus with the Holy Spirit who is in us.
I love The Message's version of this passage -
"Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good." Romans 8:26-28
God's will is simply to trust and obey. Trust that God created us. Trust that He has a plan (even when we have no outward sign of doing God's will and believe we could be doing so much better with our lives). Trust the Bible. Trust the Spirit within us Trust that God knows the decisions we will make and will use everything for His glory. We prove our trust by obeying.
How that appears in you life may be different to how it appears in mine. And above all remember, when you do make a decision like Robert Frost talks about and you realise that you may have taken the wrong path, God's love never fails. He never leaves us regardless of the path we take.
