Abortion rate falls to lowest level since before Roe v. Wade

Well this is some good news. Let's continue to pray for change.

That is good news.

We don't even know what the rate was before Roe v Wade. It was hidden and talked about in whispers.

I hate to get political already but why is it that when a Democrat is in office, abortion rates go down? Republicans are more the party of "family values" Democrats are supposed to be liberal college students and minorities who I'm told have the most abortions, Could it have something to do with healthcare? I don't know but I'll take it.

Even one less abortion is a step in the right direction. I pray the trend continues. We all need to support our young women and let them know that if they are in a new and difficult situation they can come to us and we will take care of them.

If the abortion rate went down nationally it would be because of the conservative areas of the country, where people fear God and where abortion is believed to be murder and infanticide. All of the urban areas—the places that are mostly liberal where people believe that there's nothing wrong with abortion—have a high abortion rate. For example, New York City has an extremely high abortion rate.

So then why is it that nationally when women are having less abortions, it's when people are voting for Democrats? Are saying cities like New York have been deciding these elections and the "Conservative areas where people fear God" were not voting in high enough numbers during these election cycles where there are less abortions? I'm just trying to get this straight in my own mind

Abortion rates in the U.S.A. has been moderately declining since the 80's. One abortion is too many. Annual abortions are currently around 1 million per year depending on who's data you reference.
I suspect birth control has a lot to do with that. Which, btw, many birth control methods are unrecorded abortions.
Our goal should be to completely abolish abortion.

It is the prayers of the people of God, pray, pray, pray, for the Lord to have mercy, turn the hearts of the law makers, and save the unborn children.

Could it be that through our prayers, we may eliminate the demand for abortions? If the Supreme Court let's the states decide the issue each for themselves, women can just go to another state to obtain a safe, legal abortion. If Roe v Wade is somehow overturned, there may be a lot of women obtaining unsafe abortions at the risk of their own lives though I'm sure the overall number of abortions would be massively reduced. If we can pray for unwed expecting mothers and surely let our young women know we will support them if they should find themselves with child somehow without encouraging unsafe or premarital sex. We can hopefully reduce the demand for abortions. In this society, I don't know if it is possible but we can pray without ceasing that God's will be done

Are you aware that urban areas are growing faster than rural areas? If what you say is true, abortion rates would be rising. Are you aware of the reasons people are crediting for /not/ seeking abortions even as the percentage of the population that identify as Christian decreases?

You are neglecting to include suburban areas which also have a high number of conservatives. The suburban areas are growing the fastest.

So wait, I want to really understand your belief and not mistake it for something other than what it is. You believe that the several decades long trend of decreases in procured abortions is attributed primarily to an increase in the number of conservatives? You are aware that not only has the number of procured abortions decreased, the number of professed liberals has increased, right? My impression is that you're grasping to attribute a positive outcome to a cause that you support in spite of a lack of evidence and, in fact, some evidence to the contrary.

Show me an urban area, and I'll show you a place that is very liberal and where the abortion rate is high. But show me a mostly conservative area, and I'll show you a place where the abortion rate is relatively low.

If there was a way to track the number of abortions via abortafacient birth control the rate would be through the roof. IMO.
Reducing abortions provided by Doctors is a step in the right direction.
Abstinence education is desperately needed.
Unfortunately we are up against secularism and the 'progressive' culture, via hollywood, inappropriate content pushers, media etc that promote sex with whomever, whenever is good.

You should tell young people not to have sex until they're married, I agree. I mean, that's what I was told when I was a kid. I am convinced that abstinence education is the absolute most effective method of making adults feel like they've done something to reduce teen pregnancies and abortions.
