In various threads I have been a part of things come down to Mary (Jesus' mum) and 1 verse is always used to say she is the Mother of God. That verse is Revelation 12:1 which says "A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars;". From this I, and other people, are supposed to acknowledge that Mary is 1. The Mother of God (notice the capital letters), and that she is the Queen of Heaven. Because this aspect of faith has taken a few threads off their original intention I decided to open this thread to, not only, get a a range of opinions but also to discuss the other 3 women in the Book of Revelation.

A couple of simple requirements for this thread.
1. The use of scripture to back up any definite assertions is mandatory. Don't just say Mary is the Queen of Heaven and not post scripture to back it up.
2. Use scripture in context. Posting 1 verse and then claiming you are correct shows a lack of knowledge. Use the Bible to support your assertions or just say "It is my belief but I cannot provide Biblical proof of it".

So who are the 4 women in Revelation
1. Revelation 2:20 talks about Jezebel. Is this a single person or does this woman represent something else?
2. Revelation 12:1-2 talks about a pregnant woman who is clothed in the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of 12 stars. Catholics suggest this is Mary, my thoughts are this is Israel.
3. Revelation 17:3-6 talks about the woman of Babylon. Some say this woman is Rome, others say it is Islam, others still suggest it is the USA. I don't think it is any of these but something that is yet to be noticed.
4. Revelation 21:9-10, the Wife of the Lamb. To me there is no doubt the Lamb is Jesus and the Wife is his church.

Now over to anyone who wishes to participate. The reference verses are provided for you to look up and to get the context of. Remember this is a discussion that usage of Scripture is paramount.

One needs to see Revelation as prophetic of things unfolding and affecting the world in the end times, Keltoi.

This chapter is about conditions in the church in Thyatira, and like all the seven churches stated in Rev. 2 & 3, they prophetically speak of the Church in all ages down through history ---each church represents an age of time and conditions therein: Thyatira speaks of christendom in about AD 500 - 1500, which is the time of the tyranny of the RC religion. Historically Jezebel as the wicked wife of King Ahaz caused the slaughter of saints of God (like unto the tyranny of the RC religion against the reformers who pressed to have the Holy Scripture obeyed). Many preachers during the Reformation time were slaughtered by that religion for preaching Bible over the papacy rule and abuses of the Roman Catholic Religion.

2. Revelation 12:1-2 talks about a pregnant woman who is clothed in the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of 12 stars. Catholics suggest this is Mary, my thoughts are this is Israel. Yes, this speaks of Israel as she brought forth the Christ of God, and was attacked by Satan.

3. Revelation 17:3-6 talks about the woman of Babylon. Some say this woman is Rome, others say it is Islam, others still suggest it is the USA. I don't think it is any of these but something that is yet to be noticed. It speaks of Rome as a type of Babylon in its religious order and rule, and also world commerce control, and shows how it will be overthrown by the Beast (Satan arising in V. 8) and ruling on earth to destroy the religion and its powers, and have full sway over mankind during the Tribulation time.

4. Revelation 21:9-10, the Wife of the Lamb. To me there is no doubt the Lamb is Jesus and the Wife is his church. Yes, this is when the Lord Jesus with His Bride returns to the earth to reign a thousand years, till His Father makes a "new earth" with His covenant people of Israel forever. Before this the Lord Jesus had translated (raptured) His Bride up to Himself before the wrath of God during the Tribulation. After the Millennium (thousand years) of reign, Jesus will take His Bride and return to Heaven forever, and restored Israel will be God's earthly people forever. One can write me privately for more details if sincerely interested.

And your use of scripture is where?
I know what Revelation is and how to look at it, I am wondering what others think and can they back up what they think with scripture.
BTW not all of Revelation is of things to come, some of it is of things that are in the past Revelation 12 is an example.

The woman “Jezebel,” wife of King Ahab, is probably referring to a woman/women-likened to Jezebel-who may also been misleading other members of the congregation of Thyatira.-Revelation 2:20.

The woman at Revelation 12:1, 2 is not literal. It is a sign, or symbolic. Women and/or marriage was used symbolically and in prophecies. (Jeremiah 3:8, 14; 31:32; Isaiah 54:5; Hosea 2:2, 7, 16) Therefore, it is most likely that the “woman” here is referring to God’s symbolic wife (heavenly organization).

The woman at Revelation 12:3-6, is referred to a “harlot.” This harlot is nothing other than a symbolic name/identity of the world empire of false religion. Ask yourself what is the only intuition that has and still has relationships with world wide businesses and governments. People/nations that are spiritually unfaithful to God are liked to a harlot. Compare-not inclusive: Isaiah 1:21; 23 17; Jeremiah 3:1, 9; Ezekiel 16:29; 23:3, 8; Nahum 3:4.

The “wife” at Revelation 21:9, 10 is the symbolic wife of the “Lamb” (Jesus). This wife is the collective 144,000 anointed. Compare Matthew 22:2-14; Luke 14:16-24; 2 Corinthians 11:2; Revelation 19:9.

"How to look at it" (Revelation) is by knowing "all the counsel of God", which will show the serious seeker the things I explained to you. Any sound concordance by Bible scholars will show the references in many places in the Bible. The "things that are in the past" as you say, are shown as having meaning in the present revelation. Revelation is a summary and prophetic of the end.

You have missed the point. I am interested in what people believe these women are. You see there are different beliefs on these points and anyone with access to the internet has access to the "sound concordance"s you speak about yet people still believe what they believe.

Well, yes! People will always choose to believe strange ideas and innovations and follow mystics, etc.; and they will not read sound ministry or bow to God, so we can just leave them to their choices. Christians should move on and hold to sound Bible studies ---would you agree?

I agree that we should move on but we are supposed to teach the word as it is. So to know who to help we need to have a discussion about what people believe. I will only wipe the dust off my feet when people obviously don't want to hear.
