All polling within October 1-4: Trump Holding Steady Nationally; Rubio Biggest Gainer | Public Policy Polling

Raleigh, N.C. – PPP's newest national Republican poll actually finds the top of the field in a pretty similar place to where it was in late August. Donald Trump leads the field with 27%, similar to the 29% he had on our last survey. Ben Carson is in second place with 17%, also similar to the 15% he had last time around. Marco Rubio at 13%, Jeb Bush at 10%, Ted Cruz at 7%, Carly Fiorina at 6%, and Mike Huckabee and John Kasich each at 4% round out the list of candidates with decent levels of support. Chris Christie, Rand Paul, and Rick Santorum are all at 2%, Lindsey Graham, Bobby Jindal, and George Pataki each get 1%, and in last place with less than 1% is Jim Gilmore.

Trump - 27%
Carson - 17%
Rubio - 13%
Bush - 10%
Cruz - 7%
Fiorina - 6%

Good news for Trump and Carson. Both are holding strong. Bad news for Fiorina. No news for Bush.

Scary is the only word I can think of. I would take a third term of George W. Bush before I would consider president Trump.
Yes, many who favor the current political establishment were really hoping for another Bush term. It seems they were disconnected from reality.

Today's slightly more recent Morning Consult poll ... supports PPP's results ...
Morning Consult Poll: Rubio Surpasses Bush, Trump Still On Top | October 2-5, 2015

Trump takes 31 percent of the vote in the new Morning Consult poll, easily outpacing retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson’s 13 percent. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) finishes in third place, at 10 percent, followed by former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R), at 7 percent.

Trump - 31%
Carson - 13%
Rubio - 10%
Bush - 7%
Fiorina - 6%
Cruz - 5%

Trump has climbed back up. Rubio has had an uptick. Carson has had a downtick. Fiorina has nose-dived and Jeb Bush's short uptick has crashed.

Poor Jeb.

Quinnipiac's latest polling of swing states supports the upswing for Trump ... though the polling period started a week earlier during Donald Trump's dip in popularity.
Election 2016 Presidential Polls | Real Clear Politics

Florida:
Trump 28%
Carson 16%
Rubio 14%
Bush 12%
Fiorina 7%
Cruz 6%

Ohio:
Trump 23%
Carson 18%
Kasich 13%
Cruz 11%
Fiorina 10%
Rubio 7%
Bush 4%

Pennsylvania
Trump 23%

I dunno why Americans are always insisting on doing what's worst for them. And I'm American so this makes it awkward.
Americans can be counted on to do the right thing ... after exhausting all other possibilities. So the saying goes ...
