Yes, they can bring their culture, but we do, for the most part, expect them to abide by our laws.

Well Sodomy was on many of the books as illegal

The nation is opening up (changing their minds) to things once thought perverse, give it a few more years

As I said in other topic, I liked the British response to the Hindu culture of burning wives when their husbands died, and the british outlawed it, and made it a hangable offense. People still did it, and the British started to hang them, and some complained saying it was their culture to burn wives, and one of the British commanders or such said, "Yes, and it's our culture to hang those that burn wives."

they can have their culture, but if it conflicts with our cultures laws then they will face consequences.

Like having lots of wives, it may be legal where you come from but you don't live there anymore you live here so you must abide by the rules of this country not some other.
Having a different culture living in another culture can only ever cause friction and problems.

Because they have a backbone and are not afraid to use it. Why do Hasidic jews in Brooklyn NY have their own courts, and their own divorce laws and no peep by anyone?

If any of you live in NY go to Flushing Queens in the China town section. Go to the largest Chinese grocery store and ask yourself where is the Health Department and how come PETA and other animal rights group dare not even challenge these Chinese places. But whats 50 live turtles in a tiny aquarium if there going into the stew anyway (as just one example since i dont think anyone feels sorry about an aquarium filled to the brim with eels).

Chinese people living in America do not want to be Americans they just want to be Chinese people living in America, just like the Pakistanis living in the UK.
Agreed with that. :)

I would say thats true for many of the ethnic groups. Some can get away with it depending on where they live, for example mexicans living in a predominant mexican enclave of Los Angelos.
In fact im greek and this holds true for my group as well. Its just that we are unsuccessful with that endeavor because there are so few of us that assimilation takes place by the second or third generation no matter how hard you want to preserve 'greektown'. I also believe this is true for the chinese but at a slower rate of assimilation because of how large their group is. Most Chinese will go to college and date and marry an outsider by the second-third generation. In fact oriental asians (chinese, phillipinos, koreans) is the ethnic group that most dates and marries outside of their nationality/race. (Unless the study that appeared in a new york newspaper was flawed) but from personal experience i think its accurate.

Um no it isn't, because I never heard of muslims doing it in Iraq. Just the pashtuns. Farsi and dari may do it as well. I don't know. I mostly interacted with pashtun people in afghanistan since they make up like a huge bulk of the country.

First, you posed your query in the form of a leading question which assumes that your premise is accurate.

Second, you are free to test such a standard in a court of law or administrative hearing.

As the article indicates, no one had gone to court to test these situations and that is why there appears to be some form of double standard.

Post # 13 isnt there a pedophile culture among muslim's overseas?

and if so could these keep their cultures?

Post #15 is in reference to the soldiers in the news which having a problem with holding themselves back from correcting what they feel is an immoral perversion, whereas with the other its their culture to molest little boys.

Post #18 Simply provides a link to the other discussion on these soldiers which was reprimanded for getting involved in stopping what was happening to a child as it is allowed for some corrupt culture's sake.

Post # 20 Is answering to Taliban being in charge who are now supposedly outlawing it, which would mean nothing at all if it was previously allowed. Whether it was the Pashtun or some other offshoot of Islam making it (through the same) a justifiable practice among some muslims even as some of the violent ones blowing themselves up in the name of Allah, or Islam or Muhummad (pick one) feel just as justified in that evil doing.

Post #21 I stated that what was previously considered perverse and illegal in the U.S has been changing over with much more acceptance (flags, parades, and rainbow colored lights all over the nations capital) and so any of could say that pedophilia of children, or marriages of young children (whoever it might be who uses Muhummad to justify the same) seeing he was married a child, or any of that Bacha Bazi will not be acceptable (it is with some) and pedophilia doesnt seem like its on the decline, it seems more of a ripe time for it if you ask me. Given the number of perversions multiplying.

My point was that it is considered by some to be their culture not a sin or evil (whoever they be within the muslim spheres) or whatever offshoot of Islam it is. If the soldiers are being told to butt out of what interfering in what was obviously perverse to them (or something we might feel is equally perverse) but is allowed (there) having folks complicit in their passivity towards it, then its all game to come here (culturally) if we open our doors equally to all cultural practices is all.

It is just called “cultural” not that its called "wrong, evil (or sinful) or whatever your own choice of words might be in denouncing such a pratice. If it could happen among one people it could happen among another. Just saying, that some cultures could bring more than just lo mien noodles over with them (thats typically what we think of when we think of culture) not what we might call evil or sinful or perverse. Your own children could be their victims in that instance (and you opened the doors to them)

I think its the same reasons atheists don't pick on muslims.... they are afraid of them. We christians are easier to pick on because for the most part we are just vocal. But muslims (well in alot of peoples minds) can be more then vocal. People say thats not true and they would say things to a muslims too. If that is the case I'd like see you record yourself walking into a american muslim mosck and yelling "Allah is fake and needs to take a bath!".

There is indeed a double standard, thats because they will push back but we wont. (Not only them)
Where I hang the main road where all the shops are located on are decorated with christmas lights, street poles decorated etc. Just like most mainstreets during holiday seasons. About 20 years ago these lights and decorations completely cease after a certain block. There was an influx of muslim immigrants, the majority of businesses are now muslim owned on that stretch of the road , its as if you enter a different country with a side street seperating the two sides. Yet this is in Queens, NY a highly populated diverse place which is still predominantly christian!
