Thirdly, I made the comment about your perspective may be skewed because when I asked you to look at the two national holidays you previously mentioned from a Native American perspective...
Actually, he did. That was kind of--in an indirect way--why he was suggesting those national holidays are "white holidays" so to speak.
I thought he articulated his positions quite well.
I'd disagree with the other person that it is always the case that persons of x nationality are always given preferential treatment above others not of that same x nationality irrespective of their visual phenotype, their race.
I was born in 1971, so, I'm old enough to have seen some of the ebb and flow of love and support of Mexicans, documented or undocumented, flooding into the USA for work inside the USA.
In the late '80s and early '90s the Republicans were in
loooooooooove with Mexican labor coming from out of Mexico into the USA. Why so many Mexicans that couldn't read, write, speak in or understand English were being given unskilled American jobs over ethnic Black-American
males was explained by the lunatic reasoning: "Eh, black people don't speak English properly enough and we need employees that speak proper English." Yeah, right. That's why you hire so many Mexicans that speak English so much worse than black males that they in fact can't speak English
at all.
If you want to work in Chicago it is better to be born Mexican in Mexico City rather than be born black in Chicago. If you're a black male at least.
All of that said.... any human can suffer and face great obstacles. A great number of white people have and will just like they--and others of all other races--have since time immemorial.
In most ways--not all--nearly everyone on earth has it "easier" today than humans had it hundreds and thousands of years ago.
The kid in the Brazilian favela (slum basically) does. Unlike Jesus he has a house with electricity (likely stolen though), plays video games, has a system of running water, and has a modern computerized cellphone (which is a good technological leap over the lack of land-line telephone wiring in Brazil, and California alone has more than all of Latin America
combined.) Back when Jesus was walking the earth even the rich were without these things.
However, the guy living in a Brazilian prison, at least in certain Brazilian prisons like Ary Franco, has it worse than the human beings hundreds of years ago that were incarcerated in the prisons of the Inquisition. The modern Brazilian prisoner in prisons like Ary Franco are living in apocalyptic nightmares. So hellish as to have been conceived and advanced by the person of Satan himself.
