My prayers as well. I've been there many times, and just recently pulled myself out and starting a new life in the process. I know you know this but our Lady is very good listener, and I can't believe the many ways she's helped me even though I don't deserve it and couldn't see it at the time.

Sorry you have to endure this dark time. We all have them in our own ways but its good to be strong enough to share them with people you trust. A strength I've lacked in the past...

Our Lady is a fantastic listener, one who's helped me through more dark times than there are bad California drivers. Patron saints are also great listeners as well.

I'm just soldiering on. Sense of God's presence? Zero.
Trying to show up to church, take communion, go to confession when I can.
Prayer life? Reading? It's all spare moments, bits and pieces, almost no rule, except a dogged "Our Father" before meals and "Into Thy hands" before crashing.

And that about sums it up. I have nothing better to do. Nowhere else to go.

Don't you start trashing Jackson, Rus, or I'll take you to an even darker place! The Hobbit was pretty sucky, but the LOTR films rocked! Don't mess with me on this! I'll go ghetto on your with a brick!

In all seriousness, brother, I'm sorry to hear you in a dark and lousy place spiritually. I had no idea that you were having such an empty lack of feeling God's presence? To what can you attribute this? Is it external or internal? Is it just society going down the poop-shoot so hard and fast that it has just gotten you to think "how can a God be amidst all of this riff-raff?" or is it just something else?

Lately it's all about society and my job that have me down. With politics, the parents, the students, the system, and the lack of Christ in the equation, this whole stinking career has me DOWN low.....I give in to despair pretty easy. Working on it.

Maybe living in Russia apart from your family and your countrymen here in the States isn't helping.

Hang in there, Rus. Prayers for you and best wishes because your state of mind can hit your health and we know you suffered a bout of bad health not too long back. Stay strong! Love and hope in your direction from your American brethren here....
