Who amongst you doesn't see life as permanent?
I didn't read the article, but I generally don't listen to the populous anyway; I would assume that it has to do with mass media and the non-threatening appearance though.
Girls that do like me seem to like that I am broad shouldered and am "like a teddy bear"...think nothing of it Sean, the world is filled with so many options for us all. Let not your heart decide before even giving others a chance at least.

Apparently I missed becoming an adult when people with an athletic build was in high demand. Having recently gained weight, mostly because of forces beyond my control (soon to slim down), I'm pretty sure I'd be near the bottom of the list of the girls I want to attract.

Nothing wrong with making changes, being fit, and trimming off the excess

Well, being forever alone is a choice. For me it's a lot of holding out for something better, only for a)the thing I'm looking for was right under my nose the entire time, but it's now too late or b)when the moment does come, you just completely blow it.
It's very easy to blame stupid things for being a problem when the problem is often yourself, but it's okay to sometimes acknowledge that the deck can be stacked against you.

To my knowledge, women don't like thin guys or fat ones. They want fit (i.e. muscular, ripped and built). Mesomorphs.

Yeah dude, I hear you. I lost power for a little over a week from the storm, and shortly after that for some random reason my fridge died.
Basically, until I got my fridge last night, I've been eating out a lot and eating a lot of canned/pre-prepared goods. Since I am a man of modest means, I could not afford healthy foods that are not preservable.
Gained 10 pounds from that experience. I am not a fan.

Yeah, I know what you mean... I wasn't working it off before, I mean I worked pretty hard at work and all but sometimes the workout wasn't very consistent, and the foods I would eat were high in sodium; definitely not at all happy of those results, but I lost all of that in the 8 weeks I've been out here. I don't eat nearly as much here, mind you.
My roommate doesn't like to eat all that much, and I've sort of picked up that habit as well; I have tons of food here, but it's just not appealing haha well, other than the fruits and veggies.

You'll never be your ideal body weight, so stop caring. I highly doubt you being too fat is keeping you single, unless your standards are super-model level which I doubt they are. Just accept yourself being the way God made you and focus on being the best you possible.
