So, exhausted, feeling like I ran a marathon, at midnight tonight I proposed to my girlfriend Anastasia.
I'm telling you all this because I am telling everyone this. After dropping her off tonight I kept repeating "I'm engaged!" and even yelled it at one point. Sorry to all the guys out there still looking - I got the best one.
And the Orthodox part - being a convert in a Serbian parish means you get a Slava, a patron saint of your family who prays for your descendents and is passed down through male lines (Serbian schmerbian, I'd encourage all of you to do this but that's another thread). Well, mine (ours!) is St. John of San Francisco, and as an engagement gift my sister and brother-in-law are paying for a trip for Anya and I up to San Francisco tomorrow after church so we can venerate his relics!
I keep vacillating between exhaustion and energy. Starting to get tired again and still have to pack. To a good year in 2012! Hope everyone else's New Years Day is as good as mine is shaping up to be!
