I never liked "ET." I never could get past Dee Wallace's portrayal of mother as simpleton, and I failed to appreciate the rest of the movie because of it.

i thought she was a push over- you learn that from the start when her sons friends come over and smoke cigarettes at her dinner table while playing D&D- i dont think she was simpleton though- she was just a mom; one of my favorite scenes was when she walked into the closet

but i have no doubt her character was not fully developed and that be in part because scenes were cut including two in the principal's office when she went to pick up her intoxicated son

I didn't. It was a good movie but I couldn't get American Psycho out of my head.

For me it's the other way round.

there was nothing in that movie that excited me or got my interest, i dont even remember the movie now it has been awhile- i just thought it was boring

At times, it was a bit slow and I can see why you thought it was boring. I love history and I've studied indepth WWII history and the era that surrounded WWII. Although, I think there were parts that were not true, but added in for the story's sake.

I also liked Sophia's Choice... not sure who directed or produced it, but both movies had a similar theme and/or feel to them in some ways.

Cool. Thanks and awesome thread.

God's peace

Saving Private Ryan was good.
I am a fan of the Back to the Future series.
I thoroughly enjoyed MIB also.

However, my three favourite films of all time are not his:

Gladiator,
The Patriot,

and my top favourite: Shawshank Redemption.

I love The Patriot and Shawshank Redemption... I also like Perdition and Gladiator is pretty good too.... there are so many great movies... I think that it's time for me to get some sleep... maybe I'll put the Shawshank Redemption in my dvd player. It's a good movie.

you would probably like Super 8 then too, i didnt include it because it just came out and think most here have not seen it

super 8's strenth is the excellent acting and the empathy for the character even though the plot and many other of the elements are weak

the alien in super 8 though, you would not want to meet him, dont think he would be too impressed by reeces pieces either

SO basically a bad dude with qualities that could be endearing?
Havent heard of it tho.

its in the theaters, came out in the usa on friday

but no, the alien is the equivilent to a serial killer- unless you enjoy being dragged beneath a cemetary and being hung upside down by your feet by a lunatic and tortured, you probably wont like the alien at all

I recommend the film, "The Patriot." I thought it was good. It was actiony, but good. However being as not everyone's theatrical fortes are the same as mine, it may not jive well with them.

"Jaws" isn't on here? Heck, that's his best flick ever?

my bad, it should have been included

you know he really had to improvise on that movie in a way that i believe makes him the greatest producer/director ever

someone else here i think mentioned i should have included star wars or indiana jones

well i felt it would be mean spirited to correct them- that was george lucas who did those

lucas did a lot of good work- but spielberg outshines him at least by sheer volume

I just love your George Costanza avatar, dude! LOL...I love that show. IMO King of Queens and Seinfeld are the funniest shows in TV history!

Doc Doc, what is it marti,

"how" Don`t get in the way now marti, some how i have to stop the date line of when you meet your future wife, not to mention the 3 children you have so your father in the year 1946 doesn`t go in to that club and spill the drink he buys over this specific women, who; can`t say, but first we need to go back to 1945 to help your mothers friend convince her that your dad is who he say`s he is, or else the future years of your then children or at least two of them could have irrevocable repercussions on the future climate of social and political agenda`s.
Now get in, there`s no time to lose......................!"$£*&^%$_)(&^%*%£)&
