But not you, are you too "busy" like the rest of the world, heck in the world it's hard to get the time of day. But this isn't the world is it then? Why then if your not too "busy" didn't you at least give them a link to follow? Or were you just too "busy"

Baptists sprung from a separatist movement within the mainstream of Protestantism, in particular English Protestantism. Anabaptism was essentially a "third way" during the Reformation, beinbg neither Catholic nor Protestant. Anabaptists developed their own ideas about spirituality fairly indepently of Protestantism -they were established before Calvinism and other important streams of Protestantism (the Protestants persecuted them).

The basic differences are that the Anabaptists tend to see the New Testament as having precedence over the Old Testament in moral and ethical teaching, they emphasize following Jesus, not just faith in Him for salvation, and they tend to practice a separation from the world, including popular culture and politics. These are generalizations of course, but they address the differences at the root between Baptists and Anabaptists.

Thank's, now I know things I didn't know before. I believe thusly. God said it. I believe it. That settles it. Oh Btw, I met the Saviour in June of 1972, I believe on the 7th. Now I don't consider this as being funny but I find it amazing that in a lot of cases a Christian can't remember the Month they met the Christ, I only bring this up because I was chatting with someone when I poped that question. Well it's nice to make your acquaintance, My name is, Lee ;)

That's only true for one small part of the Anabaptist family.

I would suggest anyone truly interested in Anbaptism do some research outside of this forum and not trust the word of one person with limited knowledge and a narrow agenda.

There are many good websites, such as thirdwaycafe.org, anabaptist.com and mennoniteusa.com that will start you on the path to truly understanding what Anabaptism is all about.

.

Directions Journal has a good article on this: http://www.directionjournal.org/article/?232 This represents not merely a small part of the Anabaptist family, it is one of the distinct characteristics of the Anabaptists. Groups that view the bible as “flat” are certainly in the minority in Anabaptism, usually having come to this through the influence of Fundamentalist Protestantism, IMHO.

anabaptist.com is a Landmark Baptist website, not a good source for learning about Anabaptism. Anabaptists.org is run by a conservative Mennonite brother; perhaps that is the site you had in mind?

Mennoniteusa.com isn’t even a real web site, it’s a holding page for a domain squatter –it’s for sale if you want to buy it. Try mennoniteusa.org, the official web site of the Mennonite Church USA

I think thirdwaycafe.org means thirdway.com One article there has this quote (originally from Myron Augsberg): "The Bible, as God's written word, is not a flat book. As an unfolding revelation it finds its culmination in Christ and the New Testament.”

http://www.anabaptistnetwork.com should also be mentioned as an excellent resource.

 Well, that would be me. Today, just as the service came to a close the Pastors mother approached me and said, Lee, did you know that the Anabapists were the first church?, and that statement came from a Baptist. Not from any web site, So now I'm satified. My belief's?, God said it. I believe it. That Settles it. If you don't believe this well then, I don't know what to say.

In Christ,

 I used to immerse myself in discussions of this nature and found that in the end neither party satissfied. So to make the best of a bad situation, I would first , go to to Jesus, next, ask him if would be O.k. to go into the city to take my mind off my troubles. Then I would wait on the Lord for his answer, I didn't care how long it took to get the answer, and why should I. The Lord always has something that we can do for him. It's just a matter of going to him in prayer. Then I would get this urge or nudge either way, the answer had arrived. Now I',m asking you, would you accept that answer no matter what the answer was? The city where you live, is it a large city , small city, Good, bad, or ugly?Well now I found myself headed to a place in Seattle, Wa. it's called the ave. This is a bad part of the city, but remember I had asked the Lord before I went. This is the final stage in our dicussion. I would take my little KJV New Testement with me, stand where the Lord guided me and preach his Gospel of love. Some nights 1 or 2 souls were saved, other times, well there was this one time when 70 souls came to the Christ, my sweet Jesus. You see it is he that knows what we need in life. And if we allow him he will be happy, you will be happy and best of all the sinners that gave their lives to Christ will be happy.

2 Timothy 3

1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.
10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.
12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

In Christ,
Lee:doh:

Now you have me totaly confused You say the original church is Annabaptist.
and that that is why you like it so much.. and then in another post before that
you say you attend a Baptist church .

So you like the annabaptist best and that is why you attend a baptist church in stead.

Now that i think about it that pretty smart.

let me tell you why .
I looked all over to and i finaly found the perfect church just like you .
But i was not as smart as you.
you see i joined it and now its not perfect any more.
but if i was smart like you. I would have joined the other church instead.
and then i could dtill claim i found the perfect church to go to .
just like you.

i tell ya ya learn something every day

probably anabatps didnt call the others christian, based on observation.
so where the anabaps lived, they were the first christians 'church' (if they were called church) thereabouts.
it is written that heresies were already present while the disciples who walked with Jesus were still alive - so.......

OKAY I GREW UP IN A BAPTIST SCHOOL. I WENT TO A NON DENOMINATIONAL CHURCH ON SUNDAYS, ON WEDNESDAYS I WENT TO AN ASSEMBLY OF GOD CHURCH AND MY AUNT THAT RAISED ME WAS LUTHERAN. SO, I AM WELL VERSED IN THE DIFFERENT DENOMINATIONS. I AM HAVING A HARD TIME FINDING OUT WHAT THE ANABAPTIST CHURCH IS LIKE FROM PEOPLES OWN PERSONAL VIEWS. WHETHER THEY ARE SPIRIT FILLED AND FIRE BAPTIZED OR IF THEY ARE LIKE THE BAPTIST CHURCH THAT I GREW UP IN AND DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THE THINGS THAT HAPPENED IN THE BIBLE ARE FOR OUR TIMES. CAN SOMEONE GIVE ME YOUR VIEW ON THIS. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS!
